The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) is looking for recent graduates to join the 2026 cohort of Graduate Interns. This is an 11-month internship that will allow you to use the knowledge you gained during your studies in a professional environment. About the Innovation Hub:
The BIS Innovation Hub (BISIH) was established in 2019 and has a three-fold mandate to: (i) foster in-depth insights into critical trends in financial technology; (ii) develop applications using new technologies to address problems in the global financial sector that can be shared as public goods with the central banking community and beyond; and (iii) foster a network of central bank experts on innovation. By joining the Strategy and Operations unit graduate internship programme you will:
- have the opportunity to work in the headquarters of a global network of Innovation Hub centres.

Principal accountabilities:
- As a particular area of focus of the BISIH relates to the design of technologies impacting the financial sector, you may be asked to prepare research notes on these issues.
- Prepare research notes that will identify key insights into selected questions related to suptech, regtech as well as monetary policy tech, next-generation financial market infrastructures, central bank money, open finance, cyber security, green finance.
- You may also be asked to contribute to the broader work agenda of the Strategy and Operations unit related to the operation of the Innovation Hub. In particular, you may be asked to contribute to the design and organisation of conferences and expert meetings, and the activities of networks of central bank experts on innovation.
- The programme will give you exposure to and experience in the multidisciplinary questions faced by central bankers today. Your output will directly contribute to the development of the BISIH work plan.

Qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in IT, Data Science, Public Policy, Economics, Finance, or a related field completed in 2025 or 2026.
- Research experience related to technologies or policies used in the financial sector (for example in one of the subject themes of the BISIH work programme identified above) through a bachelor’s/master’s thesis.
- Strong analytical and writing skills in English.
- Ability to self-organise and learn quickly.
- Strong interpersonal skills
What we offer:
The contract is for 11 months fixed term. This is a paid internship and we cover health insurance, support with relocation and return travel, as well as accommodation in Basel.
