Core mission
The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. Every year we host over 2000 visits by scientists, who come to carry out world-class research.
Within the ILL’s Projects and Techniques Division, the Design, Calculations and Construction Service is responsible, among other things, for designing assemblies, some of which are very complex, for projects being carried out in the Institute’s Science and Reactor Divisions.

Within the ILL’s Projects and Techniques Division, the Design, Calculations and Construction Service is responsible, among other things, for designing assemblies, some of which are very complex, for projects being carried out in the Institute’s Science and Reactor Divisions.
Your tasks
1. Mechanical design:
o Carry out technical feasibility studies.
o Design mechanical parts and systems using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
o Choose the right technical solutions.
o Prepare drawings, diagrams and full sets of documentation.
2. Project management:
o Design mechanical parts and systems using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).
o Choose the right technical solutions.

o Assist with the drafting of technical specifications.
o Monitor the manufacturing and assembly phases in collaboration with the subcontractors and ILL services concerned.
o Organise and monitor work sites.
3. Coordination and communication:
o Work with other ILL services to ensure the seamless integration of mechanical systems.

Your profile
• You have a Level 4/5 qualification (BTEC HNC/HND or equivalent) in mechanical or production engineering, industrial product design or a related field.
• You have at least 5 years’ experience of performing mechanical design work in a design office (ideally in a research environment).
• Experience in project management would be appreciated.
• You are proficient in using CAD software and reading industrial drawings.
• You have knowledge of the relevant regulations and standards.
• You are meticulous, independent and adaptable, and you possess strong analytical skills.
• You have excellent interpersonal skills and a keen sense of team spirit.
• You are fluent in French and have a good knowledge of technical English.
