About this position
We are looking for an Assistant Editor Consultant to provide editorial and production support, with strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
You will work as part of the dissemination team of the IDB Research Department (RES). RES generates new ideas to help enrich the knowledge base that supports the policy agenda of the IDB and its member countries for achieving sustainable and equitable development in the region. As part of our team, you will help amplify the impact of RES research by producing high-quality knowledge products tailored to key audiences in government, academia, think tanks, and other policy and research communities.
What you’ll do
- Support the production cycle of publications—such as working papers, research insights, and monographs—in English and Spanish by assisting with workflow, quality checks, and coordination tasks.
- Copyedit and revise a variety of content—including working papers, calls for proposals, invitation letters, brochures, and web content—to ensure clarity, accuracy, and alignment with IDB branding.
- Assist with quality checks of AI-edited and translated content under the guidance of the senior editor.
- Help coordinate with external vendors (editors, translators, designers, proofreaders) by tracking assignments and timelines.
- Proofread laid-out materials and collaborate with authors and designers to finalize content for publication.
- Publish finalized materials on the website, ensuring compliance with IDB systems and protocols and following up with other IDB teams as needed.
- Acquire expert knowledge of IDB systems and workflows related to publication processing.
- Curate and compile the department’s monthly RES newsletter.
What you'll need
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in English literature, communications, journalism, editing or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 2 years of editing in-house, agency or freelance, with a strong portfolio in various media.
- Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required. Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.

Type of contract and duration
International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months, subject to eligibility).
