The Partnerships and UN Collaboration Division (PSU) is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the identification, strengthening and stewardship of strategic partnerships with UN agencies and non-state actors (NSAs) including civil society, academia and research institutions, family farmers' and indigenous peoples' organizations and parliamentarians. The Division leads FAO's engagement in the UN Development System repositioning, develops capacities, fosters dialogue, scales up programmes and advocates for FAO's corporate positions in support of FAO's new Strategic Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It ensures that multi-stakeholder processes and strategic interventions globally and locally are an integral part of FAO's work and provides targeted support for successful collaboration with NSAs and UN agencies. The Division has the lead responsibility for the promotion of the Principles for Responsible Investment in Agriculture and Food Systems (CFS-RAI) and the implementation of the Food Coalition, the UN Decade of Family Farming (2019-2028) and the FAO Policy on Indigenous Peoples. It is also in charge of FAO's e-learning programmes delivered through the FAO e-learning Academy and access to scientific and technical data through knowledge platforms and enhanced information policies and standards, promotes and facilitates knowledge sharing on sustainable food security and nutrition among various stakeholders.
The position is funded by the project entitled Enhancing the FAO e-learning Academy to improve the capacities and skills of youth agri-entrepreneurs through innovative learning and is located in the Responsible Agricultural Investments, Learning and Agriculture Information Management Unit (PSUR) of the Partnerships and UN Collaboration Division (PSU), at FAO headquarters in Rome, Italy.
Main Purpose
The Information Management Assistant (e-learning) supports the administration, optimization and quality assurance of the learning management systems and e-learning platforms managed by the Unit, ensuring effective workflows, data integrity and seamless user experience. In line with the project, the incumbent also contributes to the implementation of activities linked to the Youth Hub, competency based learning paths and the overall enhancement of the FAO e-learning Academy.
Supervision Received/Exercised
The Information Management Assistant (e-learning) reports and receives guidance from the Capacity Development Officer (e-learning) / Head of the FAO e-learning Academy and the Lead Technical Officer (LTO) of the project. He/she acts independently in routine matters and moderately complex tasks, including issue resolution, data validation and coordination of learning delivery processes. He/she may also interact with partners involved in project activities, as required, within established procedures. Supervision received is focused on the quality of the work performed and provides for on-the-job learning.
Working Relationships
The Information Management Assistant (e-learning) interacts with colleagues within PSUR and across relevant FAO Units. Interactions relate to the exchange of routine information as well as specialized guidance on e-learning systems, tools, workflows and data processes. The incumbent may also support exchanges with universities and specialized institutions contributing to project-related activities, within the scope of his/her functions.
Key Functions/Results
• Support the administration, maintenance and optimization of e-learning systems, services and platforms, ensuring operational continuity and adherence to standards;
• Record, organize and maintain data within learning management systems and digital learning platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency and readiness for reporting/analytics;
• Guide colleagues in effectively navigating and using the learning management systems and learning platforms, providing specialized instruction and troubleshooting support;
• Review and validate the quality, completeness and technical compliance of e-learning materials delivered by internal and external experts;
• Organize and support the end to end the delivery of e-learning courses and online learning events, liaising with relevant technical teams as required;
• Provide administrative and specialized technical support for international webinars and live technical sessions;
• Support the design and implementation of outreach and promotion activities for e-learning systems, services, and platforms; this may include outreach linked to Youth Hub resources and other project communication products;
• Monitor user (learner) registration and completion rates and contribute to analysis and dissemination of engagement data;;
• Process user (learner) inquiries using standardized templates and ad-hoc responses, addressing more complex or non standard needs when required;
• Contribute to coordinated activities, collaborations and technical exchanges related to learning management systems and platforms, providing technical inputs and supporting collaborative actions; including, when relevant, activities linked to competency-based learning paths or university collaboration foreseen in the project;
• Deliver user (learner) assistance and engagement activities, and develop, update and maintain system procedures, user guidance materials and documentation; including guidance related to new learning paths or platform features introduced through the project;
• Perform other duties as required.
Impact of work
The Information Management Assistant (e-learning) contributes as part of a team to the delivery and maintenance of learning management systems and learning platform services. By contributing to project related activities such as learning paths, the Youth Hub, and system enhancements, the incumbent supports improved access to digital learning for youth and agrifood professionals.

Minimum Requirements
Education: Secondary School Education.
Experience: Three years of experience in information management processing support work.
Languages: Working knowledge (proficiency - level C) of English
IT Skills: Good knowledge of MS Office applications, e-learning authoring tools and learning management systems.
Residency: General Service Staff are recruited locally. To be eligible for this position, candidates must be nationals of the country of the duty station or possess an existing visa/work permit and reside within commuting distance of the duty station at the time of the application. "Commuting distance" means the distance within which staff members can travel daily between their place of work and their residence.
