The International Potato Center (CIP) is seeking a Security, Emergency Readiness, and Asset Control Officer to lead and strengthen safety, security, and emergency preparedness programs that protect CIP personnel, assets, and facilities in Peru and the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) region. The role will also provide support to global asset and fleet management initiatives.

About the position: This position plays a key role in identifying risks and operational challenges, and in developing practical solutions and recommendations within a collaborative, team-oriented environment. The position reports to the Head of Administration and is based in Lima, Peru.



Requirements

Safety, Security and Emergency Response (Peru and LAC) 

·Lead and improve daily operations of Security and Safety at CIP Peru and support regional activities in LAC including documentation, policy, compliance, investigations and follow up.  

·Conduct safety and security risk assessments for facilities, field operations, travel, and events. 

·Monitor threat environments and recommend mitigation strategies specific to safety and security risks.   

·Maintain strong relationships with law enforcement, firefighting services, emergency response agencies, and municipal or national authorities to ensure response readiness. 

·Ensure proper documentation, reporting and as needed investigation and follow up of security and safety incidents. 

·Develop, implement and track compliance of policies, procedures and training. 

·Lead and ensure functionality of Emergency Readiness capabilities including the Emergency Response teams at HQ Peru. 

 

 

Occupational Health and Safety (Oversight of External Provider) (Peru and LAC) 

·Oversee performance of the third-party OHS provider to ensure compliance with Peruvian legal requirements and CIP standards.  This oversight includes but is not limited to documentation, reports, investigations, assessments, training, the Health and Safety Committee, and tracking and reporting on compliance with external provider OHS recommendations.    

 

Asset & Fleet Management Support (Global Standards)

·Serve as focal point for coordination and implementation of CIP’s Asset and Fleet Management Programs, ensuring alignment with global standards, policies, and procedures.This includes monitoring compliance to ensure accurate asset records and lifecycle activities from reception, registration, and assignment to maintenance, use, and disposal.

·Conduct or facilitate risk assessments related to asset protection, including supporting internal and external audits related to asset integrity and physical verification. 

·Oversee compliance with asset, vehicle, driver and third-party safety and use standards which include preventive maintenance schedules, use controls, agreements, insurance requirements, authorization and training. 

·Analyze and report operational risk and performance data, including theft, accidents, mechanical failures, and asset utilization trends, to support decision-making and risk mitigation.

·Coordinate adoption and use of management systems including enterprise asset management software, GPS tracking, digital logbooks, and other monitoring tools. 


What are we looking for?

·Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, Emergency Management, Security Management, or related field.

·Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience.

·Experience in security operations, incident response, and investigations.

·Experience in asset and fleet management, including lifecycle processes and compliance.

·Experience in emergency preparedness and crisis response management.

·Proven ability in developing policies, procedures, and delivering training/capacity building.

·Strong analytical and risk assessment skills.

·Demonstrated initiative, autonomy, and ability to work independently.

·Strong communication and emotional intelligence skills.

·Advanced oral and written English (essential).
