About this position

The IDB Country Office (COF)/Office in Trinidad and Tobago is looking for an active Graduate Student to be hired as a 2026 intern under the Consultant modality.

The COF/Offices Internship Program is a paid opportunity for university students from member countries to learn about development work and corporate management of the Bank, and to acquire work experience at the professional level through on-the-job learning.

What you’ll do

  • Provide research support to the Country Economist on economic, social, and political issues.
  • Support the monitoring of social, political, and economic developments.
  • Prepare weekly reports on key social, political, and economic developments.
  • Prepare monthly reports summarizing social, political, and economic trends and analysis.
  • Collect and analyze data on key economic indicators.
  • Maintain and update databases of economic variables used in reports and analytical products.
  • Support the development of data visualizations for reports, documents, and presentations.

What you'll need

  • Education:  Active graduate student enrolled in Economics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or a related discipline at an accredited university. The expected graduation date must be after the last day of the internship. 
  • Languages: Be proficient in English. Working knowledge in another of the Bank’s official language/s is a plus (e.g., English, Spanish, Portuguese, or French).
  • Soft Skills: Result-driven, collaborative, innovative, client-oriented, strong communicator, self-motivated, eager to learn, and excellent time management event.
  • Technical skills: Strong research and analytical skills, technical writing, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). 

Requirements

  • Citizenship: You are a citizen or a legal resident of Trinidad and Tobago
  • Active student: Enrolled in a graduate (masters) program as of the starting date of the internship program. The graduation date should be after the Internship period.
  • Consanguinity: Not have family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB or IDB Invest.
  • First job at the IDB Group: Be a first-time participant in an Internship Program held by the Bank or Inter-American Investment Corporation (“Corporation” also known as “IDB Invest”). In addition, you have not been a former staff member, Complementary Workforce (“CW”), contractor for the Bank or the Corporation, or have previously provided services to the Bank or the Corporation through a contractor or under any other contractual modality.
