Duties and Responsibilities

The post is located at the Office of the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). The Legal Liaison Office is seeking a highly motivated graduate or undergraduate student, and recent graduate, who wish to gain professional experience in the legal field within an international organization in order to enhance his/her educational experience. The intern will work on projects and tasks assigned by him/her, which may include assignments that are relevant to his/her educational background and interests. The intern will have an opportunity to apply and further develop his/her theoretical knowledge. Under the overall supervision and the daily guidance of the Chief of Legal Liaison Section, the incumbent will perform the following tasks: • Assistance in preparing materials for the 60th anniversary of the International Law Seminar in 2026, including a possible publication, conducting research into the history of the Seminar and its participants, and any related activities. • Working on websites and/or presentations. • CMS Management (Drupal): Advanced knowledge in Drupal to create and update content, and oversee the publishing lifecycle, comfortable with layout builders. • Adobe: Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, InDesign for layout, Photoshop for image optimization, and Illustrator. • Advanced knowledge of Canva (visual design) • International Law background • Communication and collaboration skills • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills

The degree programme which applicants are enrolled in or have recently graduated from must be in the area of Law. At time of application, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme. Do you meet any of the above criteria? If yes, please indicate which one and attach proof to the application. Please note that you will have to provide an official certificate at a later stage. Some experience in journalism or preparing publications and related skills would be an asset.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post fluency in English and/or French is required. A good knowledge of the other is required. Knowledge of Spanish would be an advantage.
