Upon completing the assignment, the driver is expected to have successfully transported clients and/or goods to their destination, adhering to deadlines and maintaining high safety standards with no accidents. He should provide positive experience for clients, demonstrating professionalism and courtesy, while complying with all relevant regulations and maintaining the vehicles in good condition. The driver must ensure accurate documentation, optimize routes for efficiency, effectively address any issues that arise, and, if applicable, gather feedback to inform future service improvements.

Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Associate and the overall guidance of the OHCHR Kenya Country Office Representative, the driver will have the following duties and responsibilities: • Drives office vehicles safely for the transport of authorized personnel, ensuring that protocol requirements are observed during the Country Representative’s official meetings and missions within the country. • Make regular deliveries of parcels, documents, etc., between the UN office and other offices and institutions, e.g. Ministries, Embassies, Permanent Missions, etc. • Make minor purchases and collect urgent purchases from local suppliers as requested. Collect goods from customs with due regard to customs regulations and formalities. May make or collect payment for goods. • Meets official personnel at the airport and facilitates immigration and customs formalities as required. • Deals effectively and tactfully with officials and visitors. • Take care of the day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicles, check oil, water, battery, brakes, tries, etc.; perform minor repairs and arrange for other repairs and ensure that the vehicle is kept clean. • Maintain logs of official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, oil changes, greasing, etc. • Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident. • Applies good judgment in the context of assignments given. • Assists with the collection and analysis of data as well as preparation of data presentations and reports for information sharing, responding to queries, knowledge management, planning and decision making. • Assists with visualizations and updating information material such as web pages or brochures. • When not engaged in driving duties, may perform other tasks such as maintaining stores and assisting with the distribution of mail, among others. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/special skills

High school diploma or equivalent. Driver training with a valid driver’s license.xperience as a driver with a safe driving record. A minimum of three (3) years of progressive responsible experience as a driver with a safe driving record is required. Experience in driving a variety of makes and models of vehicles, including vans and other kinds of motorized vehicles is required. 1 year or more of experience in data analytics or related areas is desirable Driver's license

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
