1.     Background 

We Effect is a non-profit organization dedicated to eradicating poverty and promoting sustainable development around the world. We work with local partners and communities to empower people and improve their living conditions through various programs and initiatives. 

Recognizing the need for additional support, We Effect is seeking a Junior Communications Consultant to provide hands-on technical assistance in content creation and digital engagement, with a strong focus on enhancing visibility and supporting resource mobilization efforts. This consultancy opportunity is designed to strengthen our fundraising and positioning by producing high-quality, compelling communication materials. We are looking for a passionate and motivated individual to contribute to our mission. 

2.     Objective  

To deliver high-quality, desk-based communications support focused on video editing, graphic design, social media management, and storytelling, with a strong emphasis on producing engaging short-form video content (reels) to enhance visibility and support resource mobilization across Africa and Latin America country operations, while enabling greater focus on strategic coordination. 

3.     Scope of Work / Key Responsibilities 

The consultant will provide technical and implementation support and will not have supervisory or strategic decision-making responsibilities 

 

Area 

Key Activities 

Content Production 

 

·        Edit short-form videos (for resource mobilization, donor visibility, and campaigns), with a strong focus on reels 

·        Design graphics for social media, reports, and campaigns 

·        Ensure all content aligns with established brand guidelines and key messaging. 

Social  

Media Support 

 

·        Monitor engagement and respond to basic interactions as guided. 

·        Track key performance metrics and highlight trends in content performance 

·        Support campaign rollouts across multiple countries 

Country Support Coordination 

 

·        Work closely with the Global Communications Coordinator to support country teams (Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique) and Latin America (Bolivia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Colombia) which may also be part of the scope in refining case stories and preparing communication materials for resource mobilization. 

Digital Asset 

Management 

·        Organize and maintain all edited video and photo content (including reels) and communications assets 

·        Ensure proper naming, storage, and accessibility of digital files 

Administrative & Ad-hoc Support 

·        Support the preparation of visibility materials for resource mobilization 

 

4.     Deliverables 

·        Weekly production of edited videos (including reels) and graphics for social media and campaigns 

·        Support in maintaining and updating the social media content calendar. 

·        Edited and packaged case stories/articles for visibility and resource mobilization (as assigned) 

·        Development of a monthly workplan outlining planned content, priorities, and deliverables aligned with communications and resource mobilization needs 

·        Monthly summary report highlighting outputs, key activities, and engagement performance trends 

5.     Required Qualifications & Skills 

Education & Experience 

·        Diploma or degree in Communications, Media, Journalism, or related field 

·        1–3 years relevant experience (Remote working counts) 

Technical Skills 

Proven skills in:  

·        Video editing (e.g., Premiere Pro, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve) 

·        Graphic design (Canva, Adobe Suite, or similar) 

·        Strong social media content creation skills 

·        Basic understanding of storytelling for development 

Other Competencies 

·        Strong written English (required) 

·        Ability to work independently and meet deadlines 

·        Strong organizational skills 

·        Familiarity with development/NGO context is an asset  

6.     Working Arrangements 

·        Remote, with regular virtual check-ins 

·        Flexible schedule aligned to deliverables 

·        All deliverables will be developed under the guidance and final approval of the Global Communications Coordinator
