YPs join the World Bank Group on an initial two-year term contract, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. During this period, YPs complete three eight-month rotations: one with their primary function and area of expertise, one cross-institutional rotation, and at least one rotation based in a country office.  These assignments enable YPs deepen their technical and operational knowledge while gaining experience across different areas of the institution.

Through the YP Academy, YPs undertake a structured learning and development journey that includes technical and operational training, language programs, negotiation and business skills, and leadership development. They also receive individual coaching, connect with mentors, and participate in strategic dialogues with senior leaders.

Technology Strategy & Governance (ITSSG) serves as the World Bank Group’s focal point for enterprise service management, technology governance, and platform. The unit advances service management capabilities across IT Asset Management, Change Enablement, Incident, Problem, and Configuration Management. Through governance, standardization, and continuous improvement, ITSSG strengthens operational resilience, optimizes technology investments, and ensures technology services remain scalable, efficient, and aligned with institutional priorities.
The role supports the strategic direction, governance, and maturity of Enterprise Service Management, with a primary focus on Software Asset Management (SAM). Working closely with process owners and stakeholders across ITS, the incumbent helps drive standardization, adoption, and continuous improvement of service management practices while advancing software governance, license entitlement, compliance, and cost optimization.

What You’ll Deliver

• Support the governance, maturity, and continuous improvement of Enterprise Service Management practices, including IT Asset Management, Configuration Management, Change Enablement, Incident Management, and Problem Management
• Support and advance the SAM program, including software governance, license compliance, entitlement management, audit readiness, and cost optimization
• Drive initiatives that improve the visibility, accuracy, governance, and optimization of software and technology assets
• Define service management roadmaps and maturity strategies that promote standardization, automation, and operational resilience
• Partner with technology, procurement, vendor management, cybersecurity, risk, audit, and stakeholders to improve governance and maximize value from technology investments
• Develop reporting and analytics to measure service performance, process adoption, compliance, operational risk, and optimization opportunities
• Support cross-functional initiatives that strengthen service management capabilities through process integration, data governance, automation, and AI-enabled service delivery

What You’ll Bring

• A minimum of a master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
• 2–6 years of relevant professional experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of Enterprise Service Management practices, with strong knowledge of SAM principles
• Experience supporting maturity, standardization, adoption, or governance of service management processes across large and complex organizations
• Experience collaborating with technology, procurement, vendor management, risk, audit, and business stakeholders to improve governance and operational outcomes
• Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group’s mission
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work effectively in diverse, team-based environments
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
• Proficiency in English; fluency in additional languages is considered an advantage
