JOB DESCRIPTION 

The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA)  is the primary Official Development Assistance (ODA) agency of the Government of the Republic of Korea. Since its establishment in 1991, KOICA has implemented bilateral grant aid programs to support sustainable socio-economic development in partner developing countries, contributing to poverty reduction and improved quality of life.

The KOICA Kenya Office, opened in 2008, has been providing development assistance through grant aid and the implementation of socio-economic development programs across Kenya. The office is located in Nairobi, Kenya.

KOICA Kenya Office is currently seeking qualified Kenyan nationals for the position of Program Officer.

Proposed Contract Duration: From the starting date of the contract to March 31 2027 with a possibility of renewable on a yearly basis, subject to meeting performance and organizational requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

1.    Project Management

  • Manage and monitor assigned projects and ensure effective performance management.

  • Ensure timely submission and review of annual and biannual reports

  • Coordinate with government counterparts and implementing partners to facilitate effective execution of project activities and address operational challenges

  • Prepare analytical project reports, briefing notes, and meeting minutes to supportmanagement decision-making.

  • Document lessons learned, best practices, and success stories to strengthen institutional knowledge management.

  • Plan, organize, and participate in regular field missions to project sites to monitor implementation progress and provide technical and operational support.

  • Manage logistical and administrative arrangements related to official missions.

  • Collect field data, document lessons learned and prepare mission reports to support project management and decision-making.

  • Provide support for project procurement processes in accordance with organizational procedures.

2.    Programme Coordination

  • Oversee the implementation of a capacity building project implemented by the National Industrial Training Authority.

  • Lead and oversee an employment for women and green manufacturing project in Kenya

3.    Partnerships and Government Coordination

  • Manage courtesy calls and partnerships engagements with government agencies

  • Coordinate with the State Department for Public Service and other governmental partners on programme-related matters.

  • Support partnership arrangements

  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with key institutional partners.

4.    Office Administration and Management

  • Coordinate office logistics and facility management support

  • Support general office administration and operational management activities

  • Organize and support office events and team activities.

5. Other Duties

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the KOICA Kenya Leadership.

Required Qualifications (Mandatory Requirements)

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public administration, Project Management, International relations, International development or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in the international development sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Good communication and public relations skills.
  • Experience working with government agencies. 

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Qualifications)

  • Knowledge of Korean language is an asset.
  • Working experience in or with Embassies, International NGOS, UN agencies is an asset
