The IAPB was created in March 2021 as a consortium of Belarusian and international human rights organisations who joined forces to collect, verify, preserve and analyse evidence of violations of international criminal law and international human rights law allegedly committed by Belarusian authorities since 2020. To this end, the platform directly supports national criminal justice authorities and international accountability mechanisms by providing information and evidence. The IAPB’s objective is to achieve accountability of perpetrators and enable redress for the victims. Its operations were recently extended until end of September 2029.
DIGNITY, as the lead organisation of the consortium, hosts the IAPB’s Secretariat within which the position is located.
Since 1982, DIGNITY has worked for a world free of torture and violence. We are a human rights and development organisation that also runs a rehabilitation clinic in Denmark. We prevent torture and violence, treat traumatized victims, and document serious human rights violations so that those responsible can be held accountable.
About the position
As Senior Analyst, your focus will be on analysing evidence gathered by the IAPB, identifying information and evidence relevant to ongoing investigations, and drafting submissions and analytical briefs that combine factual findings with legal analysis. You will also coordinate and supervise the work of the IAPB’s analysts and open-source researchers to ensure that their work is effectively coordinated and contributes to the IAPB’s investigative priorities.
Your tasks are:
• Overseeing the consolidation and analysis of information and evidence gathered by IAPB’s partners and the secretariat team;
• Strategic planning as well as overseeing the IAPB’s analytical work to support criminal justice authorities and other accountability bodies, in close coordination with the Senior Legal Consultant;
• Drafting, reviewing and editing of analytical briefs and legal memos for submission to criminal justice authorities and other accountability bodies;
• Supervising and coordinating the work conducted by analysts and consultants, including setting priorities/tasks and ensuring high standards of work, in close coordination with the Legal Advisor.
• Cooperating with prosecution authorities and international mechanisms.
• Other reasonable duties corresponding to ability and training.
The position is expected to include up to 25 days of travel abroad per year.

Skills
We expect you to hold a university degree in law (at undergraduate or postgraduate level), preferably with a specialisation in international criminal law.
We also expect that you have:
• A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated practical professional experience in the documentation of violations of international law, preferably in the context of international criminal law. This experience should include substantial hands-on investigative or documentation work and not be primarily academic in nature.
• A minimum of 5 years analytical and investigative experience in relation to violations of international criminal law, in particular crimes against humanity, including the assessment and analysis of relevant facts, evidence, and applicable legal frameworks.
• Demonstrated legal drafting skills, including experience in conceptualising, structuring and drafting of submissions to national and international human rights and accountability bodies.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating and overseeing the work of a team of analysts, including allocating and reviewing work and providing substantive guidance to members of the IAPB team in a remote working environment.
• Experience with universal and extra-territorial jurisdiction cases.
• Demonstrated experience liaising with criminal justice stakeholders, including national and/or international accountability bodies.
• Experience representing an organisation at external events, including conferences or other forums, with the confidence to speak to a range of audiences.
• Excellent command of written and spoken English.
• Fluency in Russian and/or Belarusian will be given particular weight in the selection process.
• Direct experience interviewing survivors and witnesses is desirable.
It is also important that you have:

Terms of employment
The position is placed in the Secretariat of the International Accountability Platform for Belarus (IAPB), of which DIGNITY is the lead organisation. The IAPB is managed by the Head of the Platform and Dignity’s Director of the Prevention & Accountability Department.
The position can be placed in Dignity’s head office in Copenhagen (Bryggervangen 55, 2100 Kbh. Ø). It is also possible to negotiate a duty station in another EU Member State, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, subject to applicable data protection requirements. In such cases, employment will be arranged through an Employer of Record (EoR) solution.
Please note that the position will not be filled on a consultancy basis.
The employment, if the selected candidate will work out of Copenhagen, is based on the Danish collective agreement for academics in the Danish State, and the salary level is based on skills and relevant experience and within a range of DKK 50-52.500 (gross, monthly) + pension (18,07%).
In case of an Employer of Record (EoR) solution the salary and terms of employment will be determined with reference to comparable positions and employment conditions in the host country.
Expected entry is 1 January 2027 or as soon as possible thereafter; the position is currently envisaged until 30 September 2029.

The IAPB is composed of two Belarusian co-lead organisations, Human Rights Center Viasna and International Committee for the Investigation of Torture in Belarus, and its lead organisation DIGNITY – Danish Institute against Torture.
Since its establishment, it has continued to expand its evidence base and analytical outputs, collecting testimonies of some 2,900 victims and witnesses, over 38,000 victim-related documents and over 2.1 million open-source items, including extensive audiovisual and textual materials.
Cooperation with accountability mechanisms contributed to the decision of the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court to open an investigation into crimes against humanity related to the Lithuania/Belarus situation. Overall, by June 2026, the Platform had responded to 14 requests from national jurisdictions and prepared 13 submissions to multiple international mechanisms.
As part of its survivor-centred approach, so far it has provided mental health and psychosocial support to 850 beneficiaries.
