Context
The Addressing Climate Vulnerability in the Water Sector (ACWA) project aims to strengthen the resilience of water resources and water supply systems to the impacts of climate change. Implemented by the Government of the Republic of the Marshall Islands in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme, the project focuses on improving water security through enhanced rainwater harvesting and storage, protecting groundwater resources from climate-related seawater contamination, and strengthening institutional capacity to integrate climate risks into water management and planning. The project seeks to support sustainable, equitable and climate-resilient water management across the Marshall Islands.
Task description
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Project Finance Assistant will:
- Coordinate the closure and liquidation of travel claims in accordance with UNDP policies and procedures.
- Serve as custodian of petty cash, ensuring proper accountability, reconciliation, and compliance with financial controls.
- Request and monitor monthly customer statements to facilitate timely reconciliations.
- Request customer invoices and ensure completeness of supporting documentation for financial processing.
- Manage day-to-day ACWA RMI operational support within the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI).
- Liaise with the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) on operational and financial requests, ensuring timely follow-up and resolution.
- Conduct scanning and document quality assurance checks to ensure complete and accurate financial records.
- Prepare and share EPA General Ledger (GL) reports to support advance liquidation and financial reconciliations.
- Process and monitor monthly payment transactions in Quantum, ensuring accuracy and timely execution.
