About the role - Shape the Digital Future of the Nordic Investment Bank
To further strengthen our technological foundations and support our strategic ambitions, we are seeking a CIO/Head of Information Technology to lead NIB’s IT function.
The Head of IT will provide operational leadership of NIB’s Information Technology function, ensuring that our technology environment is resilient, secure, modern, and aligned with the Bank’s long‑term mission and strategy. The role includes strengthening cybersecurity, ensuring operational excellence, and enabling high‑quality technology services across the bank. We are looking for a business-oriented technology leader to strengthen the connection between technology and business delivery.
Reporting to the Vice President, Sustainability, Mandate and Digitalization, you will lead NIB's IT function and play a key role in shaping how technology supports the Bank's mission and strategy.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and develop NIB's IT organisation, including applications, data, infrastructure, cloud services, workplace technologies, architecture, and service desk.
- Partner closely with business leaders to ensure technology investments create measurable business value.
- Execute NIB’s Digital Strategy in alignment with the Bank’s mission and business objectives.
- Implement digital transformation initiatives, including cloud adoption, AI and data analytics, and modernisation of core systems.
- Ensure that technology platforms remain resilient, secure, and fit for purpose.
- Oversee IT policies, procedures, and controls, including architecture, security, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Manage IT vendors, contracts, and service-level agreements, ensuring value for money and service excellence.
- Lead IT budgeting and resource planning.
- Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing IT team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate should have:
- University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; advanced degree is an asset.
- IT leadership experience in a financial institution, multilateral development bank, or other regulated organisation.
- Proven track record in managing IT projects, IT governance, infrastructure, and cybersecurity.
- Demonstrated experience in vendor management and leading multidisciplinary IT teams.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to influence and collaborate at senior levels.
- An analytical mindset and strategic vision, with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Commitment to the sustainability agenda, a strong risk culture, and NIB’s values.
- Demonstrated a high level of integrity, discretion, and professionalism, as well as the confidence to engage with internal governance bodies and internal/external stakeholders.
- Proven experience in leading digital innovation and introducing new technology‑driven approaches that enhance processes and services.
- Excellent language skills in English are required.
