About ICMPD

The International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) is an international organisation, with 21 Member States, supporting governments in establishing robust, rights-based migration management systems in more than 100 countries worldwide.

Founded in 1993 with headquarters in Vienna, ICMPD holds UN observer status and cooperates with more than 700 partners, including Member States, EU institutions, UN agencies, and several countries. ICMPD receives contributions from its Member States and bilateral donors, the European Commission, UN partners, and other multilateral institutions.

Approach

Using a holistic and whole-of-route approach, ICMPD understands the challenges and needs of partners, fosters connections and empowers stakeholders through projects and initiatives on the ground. Building on evidence-based expertise, ICMPD works alongside partners in the field, delivering solutions that strengthen institutions, build sustainable capacities and advance effective migration governance.

Duty Stations and Centres

 ICMPD’s Headquarters in Vienna play a central role in steering the strategic and operational direction of the organisation. In addition, the Brussels Mission strengthens ICMPD’s cooperation with the European Union and partner countries.

ICMPD also operates a broad field presence, with 56 duty stations coordinated through its offices and centres across the organisation’s priority regions. This structure enables ICMPD to remain closely connected to developments on the ground and to deliver targeted support to its stakeholders.
