The Clinton Health Access Initiative, Inc. (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to our mission of saving lives and reducing the burden of disease in low-and middle-income countries. CHAI was founded in 2002 in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic with the goal of dramatically reducing the price of life-saving drugs and increasing access to these medicines in the countries with the highest burden of the disease. Over the following two decades, CHAI has expanded its focus. Today, along with HIV, we work in conjunction with our partners to prevent and treat infectious diseases such as COVID-19, malaria, tuberculosis, and hepatitis. Our work has also expanded into cancer, diabetes, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, and we work to accelerate the rollout of lifesaving vaccines, reduce maternal and child mortality, combat chronic malnutrition, and increase access to assistive technology. We are investing in horizontal approaches to strengthen health systems through programs in human resources for health, digital health, and health financing. With each new and innovative program, our strategy is grounded in maximizing sustainable impact at scale, ensuring that governments lead the solutions, that programs are designed to scale nationally, and learnings are shared globally.

Program Summary
Unintended pregnancies and unsafe abortions drive high rates of preventable mortality and morbidity in Low and Middle Income Countries (LMICs). CHAI’s Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) program aims to ensure that all individuals are empowered to access information, products and services that will meet their sexual and reproductive health needs. We aim to significantly reduce unmet need for modern contraception and the incidence of unsafe abortions in program countries within the next 5 years. To accomplish our goals, we’re pursuing 3 strategic objectives:
- Scale up access to new and underutilized products to increase choice for women and better meet their needs and preferences.
- Increase SRH commodity security through global and country supply chain strengthening and improved financing for SRH products.
- Design and strengthen client-centric service delivery models that will reach key populations with SRH services.
We pursue global and country-focused market shaping opportunities for SRH products to create an enabling environment for the introduction and scale up of quality-assured products and services in LMICs. At the global level, we work to ensure that a diversified supplier base can meet demand for key products and ensure commodities are affordable and of high quality. We also coordinate donors and partners around a global product strategy and to shape the broader SRH ecosystem. At the country level, CHAI works with governments to develop national SRH scale up plans with clear targets; use data to coordinate partner resources against the plan and achieve targets; strengthen national forecasting and quantification; address supply chain bottlenecks; improve health worker training; and strengthen performance management for the health system.
The Global SRH Team works across the CHAI matrix to support the application of global learning and best practices, and provide thought-partnership and technical assistance to programs implemented by in-country teams who own our valued relationships with partner governments and who possess critical knowledge of local context and operating conditions. Underlying our approach is our commitment to achieving sustainable, transformational change at scale by working in a way that strengthens health systems and government capabilities to improve SRH outcomes.
Position Summary
The Senior Associate will be a key contributor to the success of its small-grants funding mechanism that rapidly deploys funds to support introduction of reproductive health products across low-and middle-income countries. The COF has provided value within the SRH funding ecosystem by transforming how product introduction is done to be more cost-efficient and align with government priorities and global market shaping initiatives.. Looking ahead, we are evolving the COF to support introduction of a broader suite of products and meet critical SRH market health needs in countries. The role will support the fund’s evolution by supporting its program development and execution, performing analytical work to analyze and articulate the impact of the fund, expanding its knowledge management practices, and providing targeted technical support to aid program development.
The Senior Associate will play a crucial part in the development and execution of the funding mechanism’s strategic goals, focusing on advancing its evolution and growth. The Senior Associate will be responsible for advancing the day-to-day work including coordinating project work plans, conducting data analysis and synthesis, and creating compelling content to distill program approaches, communicate progress, and fund outcomes effectively. Additionally, the Senior Associate will work closely with the team to support implementation of program recommendations including drafting new grantmaking criteria and materials. Lastly, the Senior Associate will support in expanding the team’s current knowledge management practices and be tasked with other analytical and technical work to support monitoring and program implementation of the fund.

Candidates should be experienced in analyzing and presenting data, translating data into recommendations and takeaways, and creating clear, impactful written documents and presentations. We are seeking an entrepreneurial individual with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills who can work independently and balance priorities in a matrixed environment. The Senior Associate will work collaboratively with internal teams to achieve shared goals and will actively contribute to internal team operations and culture-building initiatives such as promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
This role will report to the Senior Program Manager, COF and will work in close partnership with other Global SRH Team members. Base location is the USA or a CHAI program country in Africa pending Country Director approval. Travel is expected up to 10%.
Program Development & Execution (60%)
- Support the development and execution of the COF’s evolution and growth goals such as developing and coordinating project work plans, collecting and synthesizing inputs across stakeholders to drive forward key milestones, and developing content to effectively communicate progress and outcomes
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative analyses to support and inform how the funding mechanism should continue to grow and evolve
- Design and develop high quality deliverables to communicate the fund’s design and evolution, including presentations, concept notes, and tools
- Support implementation of the fund’s evolved grantmaking strategy such as developing initial grantmaking criteria, designing new tools and materials, and supporting updates to the team’s training and standard operating procedure documents
- Cultivate and maintain deep understanding of the fund’s core principles and global product goals to ensure its unique value in the funding ecosystem is maintained as it evolves
Knowledge Management & Analytical Support (40%)
- Support documentation and dissemination of successes and learnings arising from the COF such as developing case studies, internal and external webinars, reports, and decks
- Extract, organize, and synthesize data from various sources, including grantee reports, budget data, program documentation, and surveys to perform analyses and distill stories of impact
- Gather and analyze data and business intelligence to support responses to various donor and stakeholder requests
- Execute knowledge management priorities
- Review grantee final reports and track trends and outcomes
- Contribute to grant development and donor reports as needed
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 3+ years of analytical or business experience
- Ability to think strategically, handle ambiguity, and work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare compelling presentations and written reports
- Demonstrated capacity to synthesize evidence into effective presentations and actionable recommendations for broad range of audiences
- Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication, both written and verbal
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and drive forward work independently
- Strong commitment to principles of diversity, equity and inclusion
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office
- High degree of proficiency at Microsoft Excel or other data-analysis tools
- Experience and/or openness to working remotely with a decentralized matrixed team
- Available for 10% travel
- English language fluency, both written and verbal
- Prior experience in global health preferred Master’s degree in related field is a plus
- Experience working in low- and middle-income countries is a plus
