Mission and objectives

The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) manages and implements the United Nations programme on the peaceful uses of outer space and supports UNOV/UNODC with various operational services.

As part of the United Nations Office at Vienna, the Information Technology Service (ITS) through its India Technology Hub (ITH) forms part of the ITS's vital delivery pillars in keeping with the UN's revised ICT strategy and is responsible for Information Technology Support, focusing on innovative, sustainable, affordable and robust digital solutions, cybersecurity measures and trainings to meet UNOV/UNODC requirements, also enabling availability of the solutions more generally across the UN Secretariat entities and beyond.

Context

The Business Analyst will play a key role in bridging communication between clients and the development team. This position requires engaging with clients to understand their requirements, translating them for the development team, and tracking progress to ensure successful project delivery aligned with client needs.

Task description

The Business Analyst will work under the direct supervision of the Head – India Technology Hub and will be responsible for the following tasks:

1. Requirement Gathering and Analysis:
o Engage with clients to gather detailed project requirements and understand their needs.
o Document and analyze client requirements to create clear, actionable specifications for the development team.

2. Communication and Coordination:
o Act as the primary liaison between clients and the development team, ensuring effective communication and understanding.
o Facilitate meetings and discussions to clarify project requirements, address questions, and ensure alignment between all parties.

3. Project Tracking and Reporting:
o Monitor project progress and keep clients and stakeholders informed about project developments.
o Generate regular reports on project status, identifying potential issues and recommending solutions.

4. Quality Assurance and User Testing:
o Assist in quality assurance by validating that final products meet client specifications and expectations.
o Coordinate user testing and feedback collection to ensure project outcomes align with client needs.

5. Documentation and Knowledge Sharing:
o Maintain comprehensive records of project requirements, client communications, and progress reports.
o Share knowledge and insights gained from client interactions to support continuous improvement in project delivery.

6. Other Duties:
o Provide additional support to the project management and development teams as required.
