Mission and objectives
The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) manages and implements the United Nations programme on the peaceful uses of outer space and supports UNOV/UNODC with various operational services.
As part of the United Nations Office at Vienna, the Information Technology Service (ITS) through its India Technology Hub (ITH) forms part of the ITS's vital delivery pillars in keeping with the UN's revised ICT strategy and is responsible for Information Technology Support, focusing on innovative, sustainable, affordable and robust digital solutions, cybersecurity measures and trainings to meet UNOV/UNODC requirements, also enabling availability of the solutions more generally across the UN Secretariat entities and beyond.

Context
The Games Developer will work within the Information Technology Services (ITS) team at the India Technology Hub, supporting the development and integration of interactive and gamified content on the organization’s Learning Management Portal. This role will involve utilizing Unity and other game development tools to create engaging, educational, and user-interactive applications that reinforce learning objectives through innovative digital experiences.
Task description
The Games Developer will work under the direct supervision of the Head – India Technology Hub and will be responsible for the following tasks:
1. Game Development and Design:
o Develop interactive, gamified applications using Unity to support learning and training on the organization’s Learning Management Portal.
o Design engaging educational games that incorporate gamification elements, including levels, scoring, and user rewards, to enhance learning outcomes.
2. Interactive Content Creation:
o Collaborate with instructional designers and subject matter experts to produce interactive content, such as quizzes, simulations, and scenario-based learning experiences.
o Create visually appealing graphics and animations to enhance user experience and engagement within the platform.
3. Application Integration and Testing:
o Integrate gamified content into the Learning Management Portal, ensuring seamless functionality and compatibility with the platform’s existing framework.
o Conduct testing to identify and resolve issues related to usability, performance, and compatibility, maintaining high standards for the user experience.
4. Continuous Improvement and User Feedback:
o Analyze user feedback and usage data to refine and improve interactive content, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the platform’s users.
o Stay updated with industry best practices and emerging technologies in game development and educational technology to enhance content quality and user engagement.
5. Documentation and Training Support:
o Develop user guides and documentation for the interactive applications and games to assist users in navigating and using the content.
o Provide training and support to staff on using gamified content within the Learning Management Portal.

o Provide additional support to the technology and instructional design teams, and undertake other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
