Under the direct supervision and guidance of the Team Lead, the Programme Associate will be responsible for the implementation of the emergency flood response in Noakhali, Feni, Lakshmipur and Cumilla districts under the Chattogram division. It also includes field-level coordination with local administration and local government representatives at upazila and union levels and guidance to the WFP’s Cooperating Partners Staff
Key Responsibilities are listed below:
1. Coordinate and monitor the effective implementation of field-level activities, particularly cash for work and livelihood activities so that daily operational issues are timely resolved to prevent any potential risk or delays.
2. Provide implementation support to WFP’s Cooperating Partner and government-relevant
departments during emergency response.
3. Within the specific area of responsibility, compile data and support analysis and preparation of reports (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilisation, programme status, performance) in order to support operational decision-making.
4. Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to respond quickly.
5. Support coordination and communication with local partners, stand-by partners for emergencies, NGOs and government institutions to perform accurate food security analyses and to
ensure efficient delivery of food assistance.
6. Assist the Team Lead in planning and providing capacity-strengthening support to
Cooperating Partner NGOs and Government officials.
7. Maintain records on programme activities and make information available for reporting and other related purposes.
8. Provide necessary inputs for finalisation of reports (monthly/quarterly/ annual/final report, etc.) and project proposals etc.
9. Perform other duties, as required.
Experience: Minimum 6 years of experience of relevant professional work experience in relevant field.
Education: University degree in Sociology, Social Development, Development Economics or Performance Management, monitoring and evaluation or other relevant field.
Language: Fluency in both written and oral communication in English and Bangla.
TECHNICAL SKILLS: Skills in the use of Computers; MS Office such as Word, Excel. Working knowledge in spreadsheets and other software packages.
