Background:

NRC has provided first-line humanitarian response since 2021 with multisector activities in shelter, education, livelihoods and food security, and information, counselling and legal assistance. Our focus is on supporting people in hard-to-reach areas, working in partnership with authorities and local actors. We are piloting cash-based interventions with displaced populations living in host communities. NRC offers a comprehensive response for returnees and IDPs of high need, addressing their food security, livelihood, shelter, education, ICLA, and water, hygiene and sanitation needs and also responding to emergencies through NRC’s six core competencies; Shelter, Education, Livelihoods and Food Security, WASH and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) and Protection from Violence.

NRC Somalia is part of NRC’s East & South Africa regional operation which comprises of large-scale multi-country humanitarian and early recovery interventions spread across Ten countries (Kenya, Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Eritrea, South Sudan, Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan and Mozambique).  NRC’s overall strategy in the region is to enhance protection and promote the rights of displaced people in humanitarian need by improving living conditions and seeking durable solutions. The regional office is based in Nairobi and works with country programmes to ensure standardization of programmatic and operational approaches, promote multi-country programming and ensure quality and coordination.

NRC is currently implementing Relief Program in collaboration with WFP in Sool Region, the project has various components of intervention including cash-based transfer (voucher and mobile money) and in kinds. 

The Food Distribution Supervisor will be responsible of supervising, reporting, planning, and organizing the processes of food distribution in the assigned target location in Hudun Sool Region 

Duties and Responsibilities 

• Work and collaborate closely with community leaders in identifying safe food storage facilities. 
• Participate in and co-plan community leaders and project committee with distribution events,
• Ensure that distribution events and plans are feasible and unanimously agreed.
• Supervise distribution processes and ensure that participants have verifiable right identification identities. 
• Supervise and ensure food items are properly offloaded, stored, and properly handed over from the transporting entity.
• Laise with LFS team throughout any distribution exercise and report any incidents throughout the in-kind delivery and distribution cycle. 
• Supervise and ensure that food being distributed are at a right quality and quantity and to the right participants.
• Participate in LFS activities in the target communities, 
• Share weekly (daily during crisis) distribution and delivery reports.
• Laise with CRFM and LFS team for any accountability and protection risk incidents

Our Ideal Candidate:

• We are looking for a candidate With Secondary certification or post-secondary diploma with minimum one years of experience in similar work.
• ability and knowledge to use and understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, word) 
• ability to proactively perceive risk and solve problems.
• good communication skills both written and oral
• good in English and fluent in Somali both written and oral

What We Offer:

Contract period: 12 months contract, with possibility of extension.

Salary/benefits: Casual Contract.

Duty station:  Hudun.
