Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a Economic Recovery Specialist (Rural Livelihoods Specialist) for its activities in Mykolaiv and Kherson regions.

This position will be line managed by the Economic Recovery Programme Manager.

About the job

Under the management of Economic Recovery Programme Manager, the Economic Recovery Specialist (Rural Livelihoods Specialist) will support the implementation of agriculture-related activities in Ukraine within Economic Recovery program. The Economic Recovery Specialist (Rural Livelihoods Specialist) will provide administrative and/or technical support within sector area.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Under the management of the Economic Recovery Programme Manager, support the smooth implantation of rural-related activities;
  • Support all project activities related to rural livelihoods in the South area, including but not limited to sectoral cash distribution to subsistence and small-scale farmers, provision of grants and capacity building to agri-businesses, and rural value chain development activities.
  • Conduct training, needs assessment of subsistence and small scale farmers that receive sectoral cash and design and implement training curriculum accordingly.
  • Build the technical capacity of the area programme team working on rural livelihoods.
  • Support the design of value chain development large grant project activity, including the identification of potential rural co-investment grant projects;
  • Actively participate in the design of other rural-related programme interventions; including through reviewing and updating activity SOPs and finetuning targeting criteria.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant stakeholders at the area level, including UN agencies and (I)NGOs and attend coordination forums if and when appropriate.
  • Promote the integration of rural programming with other DRC sectors and collaborate clostely with DRC support units.

Administrative and technical support:

  • Carry out basic tasks within sector area (e.g. data collection)
  • Carry out administrative tasks
  • Follow given work plans and guidelines.

 

About you

To be successful in the role of Economic Recovery Specialist (Rural Livelihoods Specialist), we expect you to have minimum 3 years of work experience in rural livelihoods or any other relevant field. Also we expect the following:

  • Secondary education in the field of agriculture, agronomy, technology of production and processing livestock products, agro-engineering, or other relevant discipline.
  • Experience in carrying out administrative tasks
  • IT skills: confident PC user, MS Office pack
  • Experience with following standard procedures and guidelines
  • Good knowledge of document management standards and regulations
  • Attention to details, orderliness
  • Good inter-personal and communication skills
  • Ability to organize prioritization and planning
  • Capacity to manage stress and flexibility for long working hours.
  • Good English language skills will be an advantage.
  • Fluency in Ukrainian language.

We offer:

Contract length: open ended contract after 3 month probation period.

Designation of Duty Station: Mykolaiv - Full time based

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
