General Responsabilities

The Health Officer leads, coordinates and ensures the coherence of the implementation, execution and monitoring of Health programs, in the Florence Sub-delegation's area of action, in accordance with the objectives established within the framework of the Delegation's annual planning process (PfR) and contributes to the strategic analysis, both at SD FLO level and with the Health Coordination, of the evolution of the health needs of the beneficiary population and the adaptation of the ICRC response, actively contributing in the planning and coordination of health activities.

 

Tasks and responsibilities

  • Accountable for the development of health activities within the area of influence of the Florencia sub-delegation of the ICRC. This encompasses the analysis, planning, execution, monitoring and assessment of these activities.
  • Ensures the effective functioning of the health team of the Florencia sub-delegation.
  • Implement health activities of the ICRC team following coordination with the Staff Health Team.
  • Manages the network of contacts with key stakeholders for the development of health activities.
  • Monitors instances of violence against healthcare and proposes interventions in accordance with ICRC guidelines and national regulations.
  • Manages health team resources and provides periodic reports as required.
  • Plans and implements responses to health emergencies related to armed conflict and other situations requiring rapid response.
  • Maintains communication with other ICRC departments.
  • Ensures compliance with and promotes compliance with ICRC principles, regulations, codes of conduct, guidelines, and procedures.

 

Minimum requirements and required skills

  • The successful candidate will be a professional in nursing or medicine with professional registration.
  • A minimum of four years' professional experience is required.
  • Knowledge of health regulations in Colombia is essential.
  • Experience in primary health care in rural/urban areas and with communities, as well as in the management of health programmes, is required. Knowledge of epidemiology and public health is desirable.
  • Proficiency in computer skills (office package) is required.
  • Familiarity with the principles and modes of action of the International Committee of the Red Cross is required.
  • Knowledge of English is desirable.
  • If you do not have Colombian nationality, you must be legally authorized to work in Colombia (work permit, residence or legal status), since the organization does not process visas.
