What we do
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.
Purpose
The Analysis & Evidence Specialist is a technical specialist to support specific matter related to needs assessments, GIS, situation and problem analysis, monitoring, evaluation and operational information management in delegation needed to ensure evidence-based and outcome-oriented programmes.
The job holder will ensure a rigorous methodological approach to geographic data collection, management, analysis, and visualization to inform decision making. The specialist identifies opportunities to leverage geospatial analyses and the range of GIS solutions to assess humanitarian needs and demonstrate the impact of programs. Collaborating with management and coordinators, the specialist contributes robust geospatial analyses and products for strategic prioritization and targeting exercises. The specialist also oversees the maintenance and development of georeferential data and GIS standard products, updates the map library, and supports projects with geocomponents with data and trainings.
Overall, the Analysis & Evidence GIS Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting evidence-based decision-making through geospatial analysis, while contributing to the maintenance, standardization, and accessibility of crucial geo-referential data and GIS products.
Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities
- Supports the implementation of delegation level A&E strategies and team’s priorities
- Supports the implementation of needs assessments, GIS, situation and problem analysis, monitoring frameworks, logic models, and other technical guidance aligned to A&E standards
- Supports the delivery of workshops and training
- Provides support to A&E coordinators in strengthening the institutional capacity and visibility of A&E, through the redaction of reports and training material
- Represents the ICRC with local partners/stakeholders in his/her area of responsibility
Certifications / Education required
- Bachelor’s degree in GIS or related field
Professional Experience required
- 3 to 5 years overall professional experience.
- 2 years of experience in similar fields.
- Knowledge of BI, SQL, statistical packages, Tableau.
- Ability to interact effectively with data users, managers and other stakeholders.
- Ability to understand new business processes and their interplay with software and organizational structure.

What we offer
Salary Package: 2’037 – 3’518 USD/Month (As per ICRC salary scale, salary setting processes will determine fair setting in coherence with the qualifications of the applicant and the requirements of the job).
13th Month of salary paid in December, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
Annual Leave: 20 calendar working days of paid leave per year, pro rata basis in accordance with the period worked.
Health Insurance: 90% of premium fees under class B, coverage include: Doctor visits, Medicines, Therapy services, etc.)
International Retirement Saving Plan (IRSP): a contribution valued at 11.5% of your monthly salary, these savings are paid by the end of service as a lump sum.
Other benefits subject to internal rules and regulations: High Cost of Living Allowance (HCLA), Schooling allowance, eyeglasses, designated personal training budget for learning opportunities.
Additional information
Location: Beirut - Lebanon
Working Schedule: Monday till Friday, from 8 Am till 5 Pm.
Type of contract: Fixed Term, 1 Year (Renewable based on performance and need for position).
Estimated start date: 1 November 2024.
