The Office of the Ombudsperson (OMB) has a broad mandate to look into staff-related issues, consider conflicts of any nature related to employment by AIIB, and assist in their informal resolution. OMB performs three principal functions: (i)  to provide impartial and confidential assistance in the informal resolution of conflicts and other issues brought to OMB's attention; (ii) to monitor trends and emerging issues and provide guidance and advice on ways to improve the workplace environment; and (iii) to manage the Respectful Workplace Advisors (RWA) Program. The Ombudsperson has direct access to the President of the AIIB as needed for the performance of their duties.

The Ombuds Service Analyst will assist the Ombudsperson and OMB in research, training, and outreach event organization, data collection and analysis, and reporting. The position will report to the Ombudsperson.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

  • Support OMB in developing and hosting the Mediation Scheme by assisting in the:

                        - Collecting and analysis of benchmarking information from other international organizations to ensure AIIB practices align with international standards;

                        - Development and management of a mediation log system to track and report on mediation cases;

                        - Coordination with external mediators for case assignments and follow-up actions; and

                        - Promotion of the mediation services in AIIB to increase engagement and utilization.

  • Conduct research on topics pertinent to conflict resolution and organizational management to support the enhancement of OMB services.
  • Support the planning and execution of OMB events, including training, awareness-raising, and outreach to foster a culture of constructive conflict resolution.
  • Assist in the development and enhancement of independent data collection and analytics systems to provide insightful reporting on OMB activities.
  • Prepare reports for the Ombudsperson to present to the Management and the AIIB Board/Committee, as required.
  • Handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality, ensuring privacy and integrity in all operations.
  • Manage and update the OMB’s internal web pages and databases to ensure accessibility and accuracy of information.
  • Carry out other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from a reputable university, preferably in conflict resolution, psychology, counseling, law, management, social sciences, or related fields.
  • Understanding of ombuds, mediation, and staff grievance mechanisms in international organizations. A certificate or training in related fields would be advantageous.
  • At least 2 - 3 years of relevant work experience. Experience in a multinational organization and/or a multicultural environment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research and prepare reports and documents.
  • Proven skills and experience in organizing events and training.

  • Discretion and experience working in highly confidential environments, and ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented. Ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • Excellent command of oral and written English. Proficiency in Mandarin would be an advantage
