In the field, the Logistics Associate reports to the Head of Supply Chain or the designate, and is under the functional supervision of the Transport and Logistics Director. Within delegated authority, the Logistics Associate will be responsible for the following duties:
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (not all inclusive):
Establish reports based on logistics movements and distribute them according to requirements
Organise, lead and participate in logistics meetings including the local transport committee
Manage logistics operations including all logistics assets in order to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of WFP cargoes
Ensure the integrity of transport information, including commodity tracking in WFP standard systems
Prepare and maintain transport information for reporting purposes
Assess offers for transport and prepare submission to the local transport committee
Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained
Ensure effective contracting processes are implemented
Ensure WFP has adequate transport and warehousing capacities across the country
Ensure close monitoring of the existing logistics service provider contracts and be proactive at addressing issues emanating from contractual obligations disputes
Register all the existing contracts and monitoring and initiate contracting processes before expriy
Ensure adequate logistics preparedness through contingency planning and continuous logistics preparedness reviews
Provision of technical support to staff in other sub offices
Supervise staff as required
Perform other related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:
University degree in business administration, engineering, computer science, statistics or economics (preferably transport economics), or equivalent professional experience or extensive relevant logistics experience.
Experience:
Has gained at least 6 years of professional experience in logistics with 2 progressive works in the contract area or any relevant field necessary for the specific role.
Proven experience in data analyze.
Knowledge & Skills:
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office programmes and other related tools.
Knowledge in humanitarian aviation activities and/or WFP field operations is desirable.
Languages:
Fluent in French Language (Level C)
Intermediate knowledge of english
