  1. Role and responsibilities

The purpose of the Communication Coordinator is to oversee NRC`s engagement in communication activities to promote Housing Institute initiatives. This role is essential for building and maintaining positive relationships, fostering transparency, and promoting the Housing Institute’s initiatives and achievements. He/she will be responsible for developing and implementing the communication strategy, drafting the communication materials, social media management and monitoring of campaign coverage.

Generic responsibilities:

  1. Adherence to NRC`s policies, guidance and procedures and awareness of NRC global and country strategies. 
  2. Development of Communication Strategy based on programmes’ specifications including common communication methods and materials identification.
  3. Provide regular progress reports to the Housing Institute Manager.
  4. Implement delegated communication function portfolio according to the plan of action.
  5. Promote and share ideas for improvement and necessary changes in the activities.
  6. Ensure capacity building of project staff and transfer key skills.
  7. Liaise and collaborate with relevant central executive and local authorities and other key stakeholders in the housing sector.

Specific responsibilities: 

  • Lead the development and implementation of a communication strategy that aligns with NRC goals, including social media strategy and the preparation of social media posts, calendar and performance analytics. 
  • Administer the Housing Institute’s social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn).
  • Be in charge of communication content (creation and gathering audio and visual content, written stories and case studies of the Housing Institute’s activities) for the development of public and/ or internal information materials.
  • Tracks and archives communications production in the country to build institutional memory.
  • Lead and support team with drafting, translating and proofreading booklets, brochures, leaflets, reports, infographics, other materials and high-quality visibility products.
  • Distribute tasks between the team, manage priorities to ensure the implementation of communication strategies. 
  • Monitor national and international media. 
  • Submit regular activity reports to the Housing Institute Manager.
  • Provide technical support and guidance in the development of different materials related to housing (leaflets, brochures, posters, radio spots, articles, photos, videos.) according to strategy and budget).
  • Be responsible for the communication part of the organization of workshops, training programs, and capacity-building initiatives for housing stakeholders at various levels of government, civil society, and other stakeholders (media involvement, conducting interviews of speakers, ensuring timely publications on social media to promote events).
  • Perform other related tasks assigned by the Housing Institute Manager.

These are skills, knowledge and experience that are important for effective performance. 

Generic professional competencies for this position: 

  • Bachelor's degree or Higher education in a field of journalism/communication, political 
  • studies, human rights or any relevant subject or demonstrated relevant experience instead of 
  • official academic background.
  • Fluency in English and Ukrainian, both written and verbal.

Context related skills, knowledge and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position): 

  • Min 3 years of experience in communications, media and public information. 
  • Experience in humanitarian, civil society, government, human rights sectors would be an asset. 
  • Experience in social media management and media monitoring tools.
  • Knowledge of photo and video management software (Canva, Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, 
  • etc).
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with information systems.
