In India, Jhpiego works across various states in close collaboration with national and state governments, providing technical assistance in the areas of family planning, maternal and child health, and pre-service nursing and midwifery education. These projects are funded by USAID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Norway India Partnership Initiative (NIPI), David & Lucile Packard Foundation, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation (CIFF) MSD for Mothers and others.

Jhpiego is hiring for the position of Senior Program Officer - Nutrition based at Delhi. He/She will technically support the Born Healthy program focusing on Ante Natal Care and assist in the designing, planning, strategizing, monitoring and evaluating the Nutrition programme and activities to be implemented. The Senior Program Officer - Nutrition would be reporting to the Senior Advisor -Nutrition.

Responsibilities

  • Technical support in the implementation of Born Healthy Program in collaboration with other nutrition stakeholders– namely Ministry and State Government, development partners focusing on ANC Services/Maternal Weight Gain/Anemia.
  • Align with Government viewpoints what works, what does not work for maternal nutrition
  • Strategies for Screening and management of severe thinness and obesity during pregnancy period
  • Implementation Strategies for optimizing weight gain in pregnancy
  • Assists in the design, planning, monitoring and evaluation of the Health & Nutrition programme to be implemented in the locality
  • Developing of a comprehensive package of health and nutrition services in alignment with Born Healthy nutrition policies and guidance
  • Assist in collecting and providing nutrition and health related inputs to programme documents, reports and any other studies
  • Support Child Survival and Development Section to prepare communication materials as per need
  • Support in managing visit of donors and other representatives from donor and other stakeholders as per need;
  • Any other work assigned by Supervisor

Required Qualifications

Abilities/Skills:

  • Experience and demonstrated ability in working with government’s Maternal and Child Health programs, counterparts and systems specially in terms of nutrition.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Hindi.
  • Technically proficient with skills required for the assigned task.
  • Proficiency in writing technical documents such as training materials and reports.
  • Ability to work within an international program team and communicate regularly with a variety of team members.
  • Ability to develop productive working relationships with other agencies, stakeholders and other organizations.
  • Ability to handle a variety of assignments under pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to multi task and work in a multi-cultural team.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work on a wide range of tasks.
  • Microsoft Office computer skills, proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to travel extensively up to 50–60% of his/her time.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate level qualification and Post Graduate Degree or Diploma in Nutrition and any relevant subject.
  • 5+ years of experience of working in the field nutrition in diverse settings.
  • Familiarity with the Indian health system, key stakeholders and relevant government policies/strategies particularly National Rural Health Mission would be advantageous.
