BACKGROUND
Purpose of Activity/Assignment:
The purpose of the consultancy is to coordinate and provide overall technical guidance in design, planning, implementation and monitoring of UNICEF supported public activities and events that will contribute to the achievement of advocacy and programmatic outcomes.
Belarus CO aims to organize public events as a means to protect and promote children’s rights and address social issues; stimulate cognitive activity of children and youth through games, contests and interactive educational activities; promote responsible parenting and comprehensive development of children; promote family values and raising children in families; streamline social inclusion; promote safe and healthy lifestyle; promote youth civic engagement and participation; raise children’s awareness about their rights; and leverage resources for children’s programmes.
UNICEF interventions in mass events need additional support in preparation and execution processes, logistics and cooperation with partners. Very often, UNICEF engagements in public events is interlinked with national partners.
The Consultant will support the Communication section with events management. Close interaction with Partnerships and programme sections will be required.
Scope of Work:
- Provide support in preparation and implementation of planned activities;
- Act as a focal point in coordinating the events with a selected promotion/event agency, transfer of event equipment and visibility to contractors from warehouses;
- Select venues and catering, arrange onsite vendors and ensure partners’ engagement for the events;
- Ensure the detailed checklist for the events management and ensure its timely and quality execution;
- Provide assistance with the development and distribution at the events of communication/visibility materials for campaigns and activities, as well as coordinating designers, photographers, videographers, printing services, bloggers and other event contractors;
- Coordinate the volunteer engagement and participation in the events, help to organize logistics related to travel and participation of volunteers (in conjunction with the Volunteer Engagement consultant);
- Explore opportunities to build new partnerships with potential partners.

Qualifications
Education:
- University degree in the social sciences, including but not limited to communication, marketing, sports, international relations or in a related technical field.
- As well as current university students (latest courses).
Work experience/Knowledge/Expertise/Skills required:
- A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in events management and PR is an asset;
- An experience in design, management, implementation of activities related to networking and partnerships.
- Work experience or internship related to advocacy, communication, and partnerships, including proven experience of working with international, government and public organizations.
- Participation in volunteer initiatives related to the organization and implementation of public events will be an asset.
- Fluency in Russian
- Intermediate knowledge of English is an asset
- Knowledge of UNICEF mission, vision and core values;
- Knowledge of child rights issues, child participation;
- Work experience with or in partnership with UNICEF and other UN agencies will be in advance.

- Financial proposal: all-inclusive lump-sum cost (including travel and accommodation cost for this assignment as per work assignment) that will include/ reflect:

- Payment of professional fees will be based on submission of agreed satisfactory deliverables. UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment in case the deliverables submitted are not up to the required standard or in case of delays in submitting the deliverables on the part of the consultant.

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment.
