Land4Lives Field Specialist
Overview
Support the implementation of field processes related to technical consultation on agroforestry enterprise development, enhancement of agricultural production systems, and food security & nutrition. Activities to include market, business and finance related; farmer learning group, farmer field school, on farm demonstration plot, and farmer-to-farmer exchange; and healthy diet and nutrition campaigns, kitchen garden development, and food security campaigns with government partners. Overall focus of the position is promoting the adoption of climate smart agricultural to enhance the development and operations of smallholder agroforestry enterprises; quality and quantity of commodity production for income generation and household use; and development of healthy diets and food security for households and communities.
Duties and responsibilities
- Identify preliminary data/information for the preparation of business plans for organic fertilizers, drip irrigation, nurseries, and other necessary business forms (such as market demand, product registration regulations, prices and quantities of business inputs, equipment and wages, and so on).
- Contribute to the preparation of business plans for drip irrigation, organic fertilizers, nurseries, and other forms of business.
- Assist with the establishment of institutional functions of the business group (preparation of vision and mission, formation of organizational structure, AD/ART, administrative and financial arrangement, identification of resources and knowledge).
- Facilitate business groups in collaboration with specialists to support the smooth process of production, marketing, value chain improvement, and related activities with traders and consumers.
- Help connect drip irrigation, organic fertilizer, nursery and other types of business groups with innovative sources of funding and potential off takers.
- Assist in the preparation of cooperation drafts between business groups and the parties.
- Facilitate the communication and dialogue process, up to the agreement signing.
- Contribute to the monitoring and evaluation during training and mentoring activities.
- Contribute to writing project reports or other required publications.
- Support learning garden development activities and identify potential additional learning gardens in each village.
- Support project management activities in learning gardens.
- Support increasing the technical knowledge of learning group members by providing direct and indirect consultation on priority topics.
- Help identify champions in each learning group.
- Coordinate with the district government, private sector, and learning groups/champions regarding the development of demonstration sites and related activities/assets.
- Responsible for monitoring and evaluating activities, including entering data and attendance at each activity.
- Deliver awareness material on 'Healthy food patterns and nutritious local food' to participants regarding awareness activities (such as farmers, PKK cadres, Health cadres, children and teenagers) according to the material prepared by the Land4Lives Team.
- Coordinate awareness activities including identifying potential participants, contacting and confirming schedules.
- Identify additional potential participants to be facilitated regarding kitchen gardens outside the current Land4Lives study groups (e.g. PKK groups that already have kitchen gardens in the target villages) and be responsible for facilitation activities, including increasing understanding of 'Healthy food patterns and nutritious local food'.
- Be responsible for monitoring and evaluation, including entering data and attendance.
- Help conduct data-cleaning for food and nutrition survey data.

Education, knowledge and experience
• Diploma or lower in Agribusiness, Agricultural Economics, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Food Security, Diets and Health, or any related field.• Farmer & farmer group liaison.
• Partner and donor liaison.
• Field reporting.
Terms and conditions
• This is a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency, commensurate with skills and experience.• The appointment will be for 1 (one) year with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
• The duty station will be in East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia
