Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate to protect, advocate and promote durable solutions for displacement affected populations.

DRC has been operating in Ukraine since 2014, currently DRC employs over 800 staff in Ukraine and will continue significant scale-up in 2024 to implement emergency response in the Protection, Livelihoods, Shelter/NFIs and Humanitarian Disarmament and Peacebuilding (humanitarian mine action) sectors, using direct interventions, support to duty bearers and civil society organizations (CSOs), and partnerships with CSOs. DRC will continue and adapt its durable solutions portfolio to the evolving context.

DRC is currently looking for a Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Officer for its activities in Mykolaiv.  

This position will be line managed by the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Team Leader.

About the job

Under the management of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Team Leader, the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Officer will conduct monitoring activities in area of operation, communicate information effectively to programs teams, gather data from the field and follow up on activities in order to get feedback on the quality and relevance of the assistance, analyze data and engage in reporting to support program and donor facing learning and development. S/he will be based in Mykolaiv DRC office, with field activities in Mykolaivska and Khersonska oblasts.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Conduct everyday monitoring, including but not exclusive to field visits and PDMs;
  • Support in conducting participatory monitoring activities with DRC beneficiaries using a varied suite of tools;
  • Support the development of data collection methodology and tools;
  • Regularly undertake field monitoring visits;
  • Ensure the high quality of data by ensuring the accurate data collection, data entry and upload as well as basic analysis of information;
  • Ensure timely reporting on monitoring activities in line with work plans and project timeline;
  • Provide regular verbal and written feedback on field observations and monitoring findings to the Monitoring & Evaluation Manager and relevant Program Staff;
  • Work closely with the program teams, conducting any monitoring activities for projects in the area.

About you

To be successful in the role of Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning Officer, we expect you to have at least 2 years of relevant work experience preferably in social work, community development, non-governmental organizations, or civil society. Moreover, we also expect the following:

  • University degree in relevant field (development or social research preferably with a focus on monitoring and evaluation as well as compliance issues) or equivalent professional qualification;
  • Experience working with NGOs and/or the humanitarian sector, and use of data collection tools;
  • Knowledge/experience with Monitoring & Evaluation specifically, information management or accountability;
  • Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Basic knowledge of data analysis practices and tools;
  • Advanced English and Ukrainian proficiency.

Contract length: open ended contract after 3 month probation period.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for national staff.
