Malteser International is the international humanitarian relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta. Since the start of the war in eastern Ukraine in 2014, Malteser International has been working with three local partner organizations in the sector of mental health and psycho-social support (MHPSS). As a result of the Russian attack in February 2022, Malteser International has expanded its humanitarian activities in Ukraine with a strong partner focus to include relief distributions in war-affected areas – winterization – a scale-up of Mental Health and Psycho-social support – as well as social support and cohesion.
To support the current and envisioned program implementation and to reinforce the capacities of our local partners in Ukraine, Malteser International is looking for a Logistics Officer for its office in Lviv.
Under the supervision of the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Officer is primarily responsibility for facilitating and coordinating smooth operations in the Lviv office. This includes receiving, storing, dispatching, tagging, and recording Malteser International's goods while ensuring their proper tracking. The officer will also be responsible for the efficient utilization of MI's vehicles, drivers, and other administrative tasks. Additionally, the Logistics Officer will manage the office assistant in the Lviv office.
Your responsibilities:
- Coordinate with the Logistics Manager in the preparation and implementation of fleet and asset plans, utilizing follow-up tools to ensure efficiency and effectiveness
- Support the Logistics Manager in creating training and capacity-building plans for logistics staff based on identified needs
- Ensure adherence to Malteser International’s minimum standards for asset and fleet procedures, as well as country and donor policies
- Maintain up-to-date asset records in both the physical filing system and the Excel spreadsheet
- Record and update all purchased assets for Malteser International’s operations in the Asset Register, with reports shared monthly
- Ensure that all travel and transport needs for staff and goods are met, and that vehicle records are properly maintained
- Lead and manage Office Assistants to ensure that all logistics deliverables are met effectively, and promptly
Your profile:
- Bachelor’s or HND in warehouse/transport management with 2-3 years of relevant experience
- NGO/INGO experience is beneficial
- A high level of computer literacy in Excel and other database software
- Collaborative team member who actively supports colleagues, communicates openly, and fosters a positive work environment
- Ability to analyze information based on real-time data
- Ukrainian fluency and good command of English Language (written and spoken) is required
What we offer:
- Start Date: ASAP
- Duty Station: Lviv/Ukraine with frequent travel to other regions
- Duration of contract: one year (with the possibility to extend)
