Mission and objectives
Providing assistance in emergencies and crises and saving lives and livelihoods remains the core mission of the organization. Transitional assistance to stabilize after acute emergencies and to cover the gap between emergency assistance and subsequent development cooperation.
Context
Under the overall supervision of the Deputy Country Director and under the direct supervision of the Head of Sub-Office, the Associate Program Officer, responsible for technical support to the main stakeholders, will ensure the collection, consolidation and management of skills and best practices related to Home Grown School Feeding and resilience initiatives, including support to small-scale producers, the establishment of school gardens and small breeding.
The post holder will work in close collaboration with other units’ heads (e.g. Supply Chain, Finance and administration, Resources Management, Partnership, and communication) to ensure that WFP programmes are coherently and aligned with the government roadmap 2025 and the United Nations sustainable development framework 2023-2026.
The Togo Country Office is recruiting a Associate Program Officer to strengthen its team and respond effectively to the increasingly growing need for assistance in Togo. The post holder will collect, consolidate data and participate in the capitalization and sharing of good practices in resilience programs and crisis response/management. In an interface role with the main stakeholders, including the Government and development partners, it is specifically a respon-sibility to advise on the implementation of the HGSF model in 100 targeted schools in Togo.
He will also work to ensure that WFP programmes are coherently and aligned with the gov-ernment roadmap 2025 and the United Nations sustainable development framework 2023-2026. He/ She will liaise with the Country Office to follow programme guidance and imple-ment the latest lessons learnt related to programmatic activities in Togo as well as explore new potential initiatives.
This position will not require regular missions travel in other regions of Togo. Only for participation in workshops and training. The volunteer will be based in Lomé. He/she will carry out regular missions in four regions (Plateaux, Centrale, Kara and Maritime) with the exception of border areas with Burkina Faso. (Savanes).

Task description
Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Country Director the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
1. Participate in monitoring the evolution of sectoral and national policies that may affect agriculture, food, nutrition, and community resilience.
2. Contribute to the identification, preparation, and formulation of program/project pro-posals with the involvement of government departments, other United Nations agen-cies and other actors and participate where necessary in the realization of techno-economic studies.
3. Provide support in the implementation of training activities, support for the establish-ment and management of school gardens with the involvement of the main stake-holders at central, regional, and local level.
4. Organise field visits, encourage knowledge and best practices sharing.
5. Contribute to the analysis of implementing partners' reports and provide advice and guidance to oversight.
6. Contribute to the preparation of the required mandatary and thematic reports.
7. Lead and inspire a team of diverse professionals, set, and follow up on priorities, man-age performances and offer advice and opportunities for career and professional de-velopment.
8. Formulate WFP programme plans in line with both organisational strategy and the practical realities of operating in the field in Togo.
9. Enhance WFP’s leadership status in different forums on subjects related to food secu-rity, nutrition, livelihoods, resilience, engagement in humanitarian, transition and devel-opment contexts and other related issues through direct participation, briefings, infor-mation products and other materials.
10. Contribute to Country Office Emergency Preparedness i.e. early warning, risk analy-sis, and contingency planning to respond to humanitarian crises and needs.
11. Performs all other duties as required and at the request of supervision.
