Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Chief of the eTrade Initiatives Section/E-commerce and the Digital Economy Branch/Division on Technology and Logistics, the Digital Engagement and Community Specialist will increase the digital presence and visibility of its initiative and, in particular, foster more engagement in the eTrade for Women Communities, a network of women digital entrepreneurs supported by UNCTAD across 5 regions (South East Asia, South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, Francophone Africa, and English-speaking Africa). The consultant will provide strategic guidance and support in the following areas: 1. Amplify the initiative’s digital presence Goal: Position eTrade for Women as a key initiative for women in e-commerce by building a robust, high-impact digital presence. a. Strategic Content Development: Design and execute innovative, high-visibility social media campaigns aligned with the initiative’s goals and milestones, ensuring the promotion of key activities. b. Social Media Management: Oversee official accounts on platforms such as LinkedIn, ensuring consistency and professionalism in messaging. c. Optimized Engagement: Schedule, post, and monitor content strategically to drive reach and engagement while maximizing alignment with audience interests. d. Compelling Visuals: Develop high-quality visuals and multimedia assets to enhance campaign appeal. e. Thematic Campaigns: Plan and deliver focused campaigns to raise awareness of specific themes or achievements. f. Data-Driven Adjustments: Regularly analyze performance metrics, reporting insights to refine strategies and ensure measurable impact. 2. Strengthen the eTrade for Women Online Platform Goal: Cultivate a dynamic online resource hub to foster learning, collaboration, and success stories among members. a. Content Curation and Dissemination: Identify relevant, high-value content on the platform, ensuring alignment with member needs. b. Member-Centric Contributions: Collect and showcase success stories, case studies, and testimonials that highlight the accomplishments of women entrepreneurs from the Global South. c. Impact Analysis: Monitor platform usage and member engagement, providing insights and recommendations to inform continuous improvement. d. Learning Enablement: Support the management and expansion of the “Academy” section by ensuring a user-friendly experience. 3. Deepen Community Engagement Goal: Foster vibrant, connected regional and global communities that drive peer learning, collaboration, and program advocacy. a. Content for Connection: Craft and curate engaging content tailored for the Communities’ regional groups, maintaining regular engagement. b. Thought Leadership: Identify prominent speakers to deliver impactful online and in-person events that resonate with community interests. c. Responsive Interaction: Actively facilitate discussions by responding promptly to member inquiries and posts. d. Collaborative Ecosystem: Promote knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and collaboration among members. e. Leadership Empowerment: Support the identification and onboarding of new eTrade for Women Community Leaders, helping them in developing impactful action plans. 4. Drive Innovation in Community Development Goal: Introduce transformative regional and global initiatives that enhance network value and strengthen the program’s relevance. a. Creative Program Design: Spearhead the ideation and implementation of innovative activities that resonate with the eTrade for Women network members and expand the program’s reach and influence. b. Strategic Integration: Ensure new initiatives align with the broader mission of empowering women in e-commerce globally and regionally.
Qualifications/special skills
A first-level university degree in communications, marketing, business, or related field is required. Work experience in digital marketing is required. Relevant work experience with content management systems and community management platforms is required. Producing content for social media is an advantage. Work experience with UN, in the field of Communications, Digital communications, Social Media, Community Management, is desirable.
Languages
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of French or Spanish would be an asset.
