Position: National Accounting Officer
Reporting to: Regional Finance Officer and Country Director

Job Brief

ARCD is currently seeking an experienced Accounting Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining accounting records, analyzing financial data, and ensuring that the organization’s finances are accurate and up to date. The Accounting Officer will play a critical role in supporting the organization’s daily financial operations and contributing to its sustainable development goals.

Key Responsibilities

Coordination and Support

  • Coordinate with the regional finance officer to ensure alignment on financial practices and reporting.
  • Provide assistance in preparing proposal budgets to support funding initiatives.
  • Offer support to regional office countries in managing and maintaining financial operations.

1. Financial Record Management

  • Maintain and update accurate accounting records for all financial transactions.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies and accounting standards.

2. Bank Reconciliation

  • Reconcile bank statements with organizational records on a regular basis.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

3. Financial Analysis and Reporting

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data to support strategic decision-making.

4. Audit and Tax Preparation Support

  • Provide necessary documentation and assistance during audits.
  • Prepare for tax filings and ensure compliance with local tax regulations.

5. Issue Resolution

  • Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to address financial issues effectively.

6. Budget Monitoring

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets.
  • Track expenditures against budgets and report variances.

Qualifications

  1. A bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  2. Proven experience (3-5 years) in accounting or financial management, preferably in an NGO or similar organization.
  3. Proficiency in accounting software and financial management tools.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  7. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
