It’s a daunting task – but do you want to contribute to an Afghanistan free from poverty where everyone enjoys their rights and lives in dignity? The Solidarity Committee for Afghanistan (SCA) is looking for a Programme Manager to join our team in Stockholm. In this role, you will develop and manage a portfolio of partnerships with organisations working in Afghanistan.

About the Role
In this role, you will develop and manage SCA’s partnership with local as well as international organisations working in or for Afghanistan. Your tasks include everything from identifying and assessing possible partners to follow-up and learning together with partner organisations. You will also play a crucial role in identifying new funding opportunities and elaborating applications, as well as managing contacts with existing/ new donors.
You will be part of the Partnership Unit and report to the Head of Partnerships. You will work closely with our Administrative and Communication units, as well as with SCA’s policy advisors. The position requires excellent analytical skills, self-leadership abilities and an established network within international development cooperation.
Main Responsibilities
- Develop and manage a portfolio of partnerships, including preparing applications, fostering donor relationships, and overseeing financial and programmatic follow-up of partner organisations.
- Contribute to mapping and identifying relevant funding opportunities and partner organisations within the portfolio.
- Draft applications and reports to donors, ensuring coordination with partners and other key stakeholders.
- Conduct organisational assessments of potential partner organisations to ensure alignment with strategic goals and internal policy
- Negotiate agreements and terms with donors and partner organisations.
- Maintain on-going dialogue with donors and partner organisations to foster effective and productive relationships.
- Monitor partner organisations’ activities and ensure compliance with agreements.
- Facilitate organisational development initiatives in collaboration with partner organisations.
SCA is currently undergoing a change process which requires flexibility in terms of tasks from all its staff.
Qualifications
You should meet the following requirements:
- At least five years’ experience from managing partnerships in international development programmes. Field experience is a merit.
- You have an MSc in political science, development studies, international relations, human rights or similar level of academic capacity gained from experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Skills in Swedish, Dari or Pashto are meriting.
- Knowledge of and experience from Afghanistan or the surrounding region is meriting.
You work well in a team while independently organising your tasks and delivering on your responsibilities. You demonstrate high integrity, ethics and values in critical work situations. You are attentive and accommodating in your interactions. You maintain a positive and solution-oriented attitude even under stress, and act in accordance with decisions and plans.
About the position and how to apply
You will join us at the SCA office on Malmgårdsvägen 63 in Stockholm where we currently are 17 colleagues. You are expected to work at the office, but to facilitate work life balance we offer the possibility to partly work from home.

Salary and conditions
We apply individual salary setting with a salary level adapted to the non-profit sector. Form of employment
This is a one year position. The start date is 1 of March 2025, or as agreed.
