Organizational Setting
UTF/BRA/089/BRA
The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.
Technical Focus
To subsidize the Department of Evaluation, Monitoring, Studies and Strategic Information – DAMEI/SE/MDA in the development of methods for gather data, compile and perform data analysis related to indicators, monitoring and analysis of family farming and its policies, with a focus on ATER, allowing diagnoses to support more effective public action in favor of improving the living conditions of family farmers.
Tasks and Responsibilities
•Perform analysis and gather data, compile and perform data analysis related to indicators, administrative databases, and other relevant sources related to rural development policies, food security, and associated areas, providing inputs to inform public decision-making
•Prepare reports and data spreadsheets, in a format to be specified, relevant to the established activities;
•Assist in workshops and meetings relevant to the preparation of the consultancy products, upon demand of DAMEI/SE/MDA;
•Subsidize and monitor the actions developed on the subject of consulting with the agencies involved;
•Provide the MDA with information and parameters regarding the topic pertinent to these activities
•Prepare the Work Plan and the Products as established in the KPI (Key Performance Indicator).
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING\:
Minimum Requirements
•University Degree in Major areas of knowledge of Exact and Earth Sciences, Engineering or applied Social Sciences according to the CAPES/CNPq table of areas of knowledge.
•Minimum experience of 05 (five) years in information technology, database, data analysis, systems development and programming language. In case of having specialization\: 04 (four) years of experience in the requested areas. In case of having Master's degree\: 03 (three) years of experience in the requested areas and in case of having a Doctorate\: 02 (two) years of experience in the requested areas.
•Working knowledge (level C) of English or Spanish and Portuguese;
•National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit

Technical/Functional Skills
•Desirable experience with knowledge in treatment, cross-referencing and data generation; Knowledge in routine automation; Knowledge in database assembly; Knowledge in data quality assessment; Knowledge about Public Policies for Family Farming and Agrarian Reform; Knowledge about monitoring and evaluation of public policies.
•Desired skills include familiarity with tools such as Python (preferred), R, SPSS, or Stata for programming and statistical analysis; Power BI (preferred), Tableau, or Looker for data visualization; SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL) for database management; and Git, with proficiency in GitHub (preferred) or GitLab, for version control.
