OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME

The Objectives of WHO's emergency programme are to design and implement programmes that prepare the health sector to deal with emergencies and that improve health during and after crises. Within the emergency programme, the objectives of WHO's emergency response team are to support Member State by:

1.Promptly assessing health needs of populations affected by crises, identifying priority causes of ill-health and death; preparing damage estimates and emergency response and rehabilitation plans; providing prompt, credible heath information and ensuring the continuity of essential health services;

2.Coordinating and monitoring emergency health relief efforts under the aegis of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee Health Cluster, of which WHO is the lead agency;

3.Ensuring that critical gaps in the health response are rapidly identified and filled;

4. Revitalizing and building the capacity of national health systems to deal with preparedness, mitigation and response.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

The incumbent will perform the following duties:

  1. Ensure the reception of the shipments through the customs at Gaza level
  2. Ensure and warranty the safe storage of the supplies, medical and non-medical, according with the required storage conditions, including cold-chains
  3. Ensure the supplies to health facilities and partners, based in the distribution plans defined by WHO and the requests approved by the Incidement Manager
  4. Liase with the MOH for understanding and accomplishing the needs in terms of supplies
  5. Maintain a stock management system that ensures control of all WHO goods available in the territory and their traceability to the final destination
  6. Inform those responsible for the different programs of the status of the stock
  7. Participate in meetings and related activities, both at the UN, MOH and partner levels8. Perform any other duties as designated by the supervisor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Essential: University degree in Management, or other related field. Valid driving license (B).
Desirable: Relevant background indata management, supply chain, logistics management or related field is an asset.

Experience

Essential: At least one year of related experience in in the field of logistics and store management
Desirable: Relevant experience in the UN system

Skills

  • Sound organization skills;
  • Stress and time management skills.
  • Good knowledge of WHO systems, procedures and practices.

REMUNERATION

Remuneration comprises an annual base salary starting at ILS 236,510 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable) and 30 days of annual leave.
