Under the direct supervision of the Head of Programme, the job holder will oversee the portfolio of resilience-building activities (school feeding programme, asset creation and livelihoods projects, and nutrition interventions) in WFP Myanmar’s Rakhine Area Office.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Provide project management support to school feeding, asset creation/livelihoods and nutrition activities, ensuring a coordinated approach with wider programmes that complies with WFP standards and procedures. Oversee the development and implementation of these activities.
Undertake visits to view project outputs and beneficiaries, inspect storage places and points where WFP commodities are received, to ensure that progress is made in the achievement of project objectives.
Identify appropriate adjustments and solutions to project implementation to enhance programme outcomes and effectiveness in a crisis context with access restrictions and a fluid security situation.
Integrate elements of different programme activities, where appropriate, to enhance food and nutrition security.
Collaborate closely with the relief unit to complement relief activities with resilience-building activities.
Integrate key assurance and risk management considerations into the management and implementation of the defined activities.
Develop and sustain liaison with key professionals, NGOs and UN agencies engaged in the field of food security, with a particular focus on resilience-building activities.
Attend interagency meetings, clusters and other coordination mechanisms as appropriate.
Support the identification, development and management of potential partnerships to collaborate with, leading to improved food assistance packages.
Research and analyse policy and operational issues to support senior colleagues in the development of policies, programmes and activities.
Contribute to the preparation of accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
Liaise with internal counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, monitoring of ongoing projects.
Support the capacity building of WFP staff and other partners to prepare for and respond to food assistance needs, e.g. through project management support of learning initiatives.
Manage a team of technical staff to effectively implement programmes in nutrition, asset creation and livelihoods, and school feeding.

STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: University Degree or Advanced University Degree in international relations, political or economic science, business administration, or other relevant academic areas.
Technical skills: Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
Language: Fluency in both oral and written English and Myanmar.
Critical Success Factors: Strong project management expertise; leadership and team management experience; Sound judgment, critical reflection skills, resourcefulness, and initiative; strong networking and management of diverse stakeholders; Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing. Ability to work with minimum of supervision; to supervise and train support staff; and be willing to travel and to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE
At least one year of postgraduate professional experience on programme implementation and project management.
Experience in humanitarian or development settings is an asset, including designing, implementing and managing humanitarian activities, institutional partnerships, and relationships with key local stakeholders.
