Under the overall supervision of Programme Officer (Protection) and the direct supervision of Senior Project Associate (Protection), and administrative supervision of relevant Head of Sub Office in coordination with Regional Coordinators, the Incumbent will be responsible to:
Role objectivesCore Functions / Responsibilities:
- Assist with the organization of the Protection Screeners and protection monitoring and case management workers (PMCWs) on protection-specific programming at the field level under the guidance of the Senior Protection Associate.
- Act as a focal person in the province for the unit and assist the Senior Protection Associate in organizing the implementation of protection activities.
- Conduct protection monitoring, protection case management and other programmatic activities in line with internal standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Provide holistic case management services, with comprehensive needs assessments, provision of in-kind assistance and referrals and improve systems for highly vulnerable and at-risk populations, particularly returnees.
- Support the organization of family tracing and reunification of beneficiaries, together with relevant partner agencies.
- Identify gaps in protection assistance, processes, and services provision with innovative ideas to assist program development, and channel them to the Senior Protection Associate.
- Support coordination between the field and Kabul team, in support of the needs of beneficiaries and smooth implementation of protection activities.
- Represent Protection unit during internal coordination at the field-level and per the advice of the Senior Protection Associate for external coordination.
- Organize monthly activity schedule, including, compilation of finance, procurement, and programme-related documents for the field location, such as, summary lists for cash for protection, and distributions, in coordination with the supervisor and admin focal points for the unit in Kabul in a timely manner.
- Draft reports, narratives and overviews of the activities and context on a regular basis.
- Provide logistics support for meetings, workshops, and training sessions.
- Respond to general information requests and inquiries related to finance and administration within Protection unit; set up and maintain files/records of staff leaves, supplies, etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Law, Political Science, International Relations or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two (2) years of relevant professional experience
or
- High School Diploma with four (4) years of relevant professional experience
Experience

Experience in Case Management and Protection Monitoring

Sufficient Knowledge on child protection and Gender Based Violence (GBV)

Knowledge of using data collection through KOBO

Basic information on the migration issues within Afghanistan and the reasons why people migrate.

Basic Knowledge of what IOM is doing in Afghanistan for migration and specifically for the undocumented Afghan returnees

Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
SKILLS
In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization
Basic knowledge of what IOM is doing in Afghanistan for migration and specifically for the undocumented Afghan returnees.
Computer literacy (Microsoft Word and Excel)
Willing to collaborate with and support people from different ethnic groups and different religions (required).
Languages
- For all Applicants, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
- Working knowledge of Pashto or Dari is required.
- Fluency in all national language(s) are highly advantages.
