Job Description

The Caseworker works under the coordination of the Greek authorities (Greek Asylum Service) in performing some or all of the following tasks:

• Work as a member of a team of experts on the processing of applications for international protection, following the relevant detailed GAS Standard Operating Procedures;

• Conduct interviews with applicants for international protection;

• Prepare opinions on applications for international protection;

• Comply with the productivity targets;

• Work under the guidance of the appointed team leader and the instructions of the Head of RAO/AU or his/her representative;

• Research country of origin information for the needs of the processed cases;

• Keep updated, maintain excellent understanding of and implement all developments in guidance, quality feedback, SOPs;

• Participate in internal and external meetings;

• Participate in trainings organized by EUAA or other stakeholders, locally or in other locations, when requested;

• Provide to EUAA regular analytical and statistical reports of provided services and challenges;

• Perform any other tasks in the interest of the service, relevant for the specific profile.

Requirements

• University degree is required, preferably in the field of law, political, humanitarian, social studies;

• Post-graduate degree will be considered as an asset;

• Demonstrated previous experience in relevant tasks will be an advantage;

• Fluency in Greek and English (oral and written);  

• Computer literacy, including MS Office applications (Word, Excel), use of internet and web-based applications; 

• Excellent intercultural/interdisciplinary communication skills;

• Excellent analytical skills;

• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills; 

• Ability to work under pressure.
