ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency committed to a world with zero hunger. WFP engages with private and public sector partners to address global challenges through innovative approaches, particularly in individual giving, digital engagement, and other specialized fundraising initiatives.
The Private Partnerships Division (PSP) plays a pivotal role in mobilizing resources to meet growing humanitarian needs. This position will strengthen WFP’s ability to deliver on its strategic priorities in individual giving, specifically leveraging expertise in strategic target management (STM), digital-first campaigns, and innovative engagement strategies across diverse markets and languages, including English, French, and Chinese.
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The Senior Advisor for Individual Giving and Digital Engagement will provide strategic oversight, high-level advisory support, and operational expertise to guide WFP’s individual giving programs. This role addresses a growing demand for specialized oversight in scaling innovative and high-impact initiatives that align with WFP’s strategic and operational goals.
The Advisor will translate Executive Board decisions into actionable plans and ensure their successful implementation. The role is essential to achieve targeted outcomes in language-specific and market-specific campaigns across multiple countries.
ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Guidance
- Provide high-level advisory support to the Deputy Director and Director on individual giving and digital engagement strategies.
- Develop operational plans that align with WFP’s global targets and the decisions of the Executive Board.
- Identify market opportunities and risks, offering tailored strategies for multi-country and multilingual initiatives.
Operational Planning and Oversight
- Translate strategic objectives into detailed operational plans, ensuring alignment with WFP’s global fundraising priorities.
- Lead the design and implementation of high-impact digital campaigns and individual giving programs.
- Develop KPIs to monitor and evaluate the performance of initiatives, providing regular updates to senior leadership.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with internal teams, including fundraising, operations, and digital engagement units, to ensure cohesive strategy execution.
- Facilitate partnerships with external stakeholders, including digital platforms, media agencies, and local market experts.
Oversee Procurement activities
- Ensure Compliance with Procurement Policies: Collaborate with procurement authorities to ensure that all procurement actions, such as waivers, tenders, or competitive processes, adhere to WFP’s established guidelines and financial thresholds..
- Procurement Process Optimization: Provide guidance on optimizing procurement workflows for digital engagement and individual giving initiatives, including strategies for managing non-standardized cost structures like those in digital advertising platforms.
Resource Management
- Assist the IF Deputy Director and PSP finance team in ensuring effective budgeting for digital engagement initiatives, optimizing resource allocation and utilization.
- Collaborate with teams to secure funding for individual giving and market expansion projects.
Risk Management
- Identify risks associated with digital engagement and individual giving programs, devising mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with WFP policies and external regulations in all campaigns and initiatives.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT
Implementation of Key Initiatives:
- Launch and Optimize Digital Campaigns: Oversee the design, launch, and optimization of high-priority digital campaigns tailored to specific markets. Ensure each campaign meets established KPIs, such as donor acquisition rates, conversion rates, and overall ROI.
- Performance Monitoring and Reporting: Develop comprehensive performance reports for each campaign, including detailed analyses of metrics (e.g., impressions, click-through rates, conversions) and actionable recommendations for refining strategies to achieve improved outcomes in future campaigns.
Quick-Win Optimization Opportunities:
- A prioritized list of enhancements to maximize campaign efficiency and impact.
Stakeholder Engagement:
- Strengthened partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education
- University degree in Business Management, International Development, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Marketing, Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Work history
- minimum of 15 year’s progressive experience working in resource mobilization, individual giving and digital engagement.
Hard skills
- Essential computer skills in Microsoft Office applications: proficiency in Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Proven ability to conceptualize, plan, manage, develop and monitor processes
- Excellent understanding of global issues and an ability to translate an Organisation’s mission
- Expertise in digital-first fundraising and innovative donor engagement strategies.
- Strong analytical and operational planning skills.
- Proficiency in managing budgets and performance monitoring systems.
Soft skills
- Outstanding analytical, negotiation and advocacy skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to cultivate relationships and influence senior decision-makers
- Highly organized with exceptional planning and problem solving skills

Language(s)
- Excellent command of spoken and written English
- Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language would be a plus (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish).
