OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME
The goal of WHO's presence in countries, territories and areas is to develop a two-way collaboration
between the Secretariat and countries, territories and areas, by supporting them to reach national
health goals and contribute to global and regional public health action. WHO utilizes the Country
Cooperation Strategy (CCS), a key element of the Country Focus strategy, as a strategic
management tool to create synergy and alignment between WHO leadership priorities and national
health policies, strategies and plans as well as United Nations Development Assistance Framework
(UNDAF). Creating this synergy and alignment will be essential to advance WHO's organizational
effectiveness and ensure WHO's relevance at country level.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
Terms of Reference for InternUnder the supervision of the Senior Programme Management Officer, the intern will support the team in achieving its objectives by undertaking the following responsibilities:
- Program Integration & Coordination
- Support the integration of WHO programs within internal and external frameworks.
- Assist in aligning programs with SDG targets and the organization's overarching goals.
- Help foster productive partnerships with non-state actors, Ministry of Health partners, and the UN Resident Coordinator's office.
- Contribute to the documentation and coordination of stakeholder meetings.
- Support activities related to the UN Joint Cooperation Framework (2023-2027).
- Prepare reports on collective efforts to achieve SDG health targets.
- Assist in organizing quarterly semi-annual ministerial check-ins.
- Prepare briefing documents and follow up on action points from meetings.
- Assist in planning and organizing team retreats and surveys to gauge staff satisfaction.
- Monitor the completion of action items and draft summary reports.
- Help manage the internal and external performance management framework, ensuring effective follow-up on ongoing actions.
- Coordinate responses to ad hoc leadership requests, ensuring contributions are integrated and cross-cutting.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Have completed the equivalent of three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution prior to commencing the assignment; AND be enrolled in a course of study at a university or equivalent institution leading to a formal qualification (applicants who have already graduated may also qualify for consideration provided that they apply to the internship within six months after completion of their formal qualification).

In addition, interns need to be familiar with commonly used computer programmes, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of specialized computer programmes, for example, statistical software such as XLStat may be an advantage.

Languages
Essential: Expert knowledge of English.Desirable: Knowledge of local language (Urdu) will be an asset.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
Interns do not receive a salary. They do however receive a living allowance. The allowance depends on the duty station and other external support (grant, scholarships, etc.) received by the intern. The exact amount of the living allowance will be calculated for each intern, after selection, based on a legal financial disclosure form that the individual will complete.. WHO also provides all interns with accident and medical insurance coverage.

- Living abroad is expensive and finding accommodation can be challenging. All intern candidates should be aware of these factors before they consider applying for a WHO Internship.

- Interns are not eligible to take up a consultant or other non-staff contract in WHO for a period of three months following the end of the internship. However, no such restriction applies to temporary or longer-term staff positions if the vacancy has been advertised and a competitive process completed.
