Organizational Setting
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has been represented in Zimbabwe since 1984, with its office located in Harare. This office houses both the Country Office (FAOZW) and the Subregional Office for Southern Africa (SFS), which serves as a technical hub established in 2006.
The primary function of the FAO Office in Zimbabwe is to identify, plan, and implement priority activities in alignment with the needs of the Government of Zimbabwe, as outlined in the Country Programme Framework. These activities also align with the strategic objectives of the Zimbabwe United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (ZUNSDCF).
The Subregional Office for Southern Africa covers 15 member countries within the subregion and adopts a multi-disciplinary approach to agriculture programs based on FAO’s strategic objectives. It plays a key role in identifying and implementing priority actions that address subregional challenges in food security, nutrition, agriculture, forestry, fisheries, and rural development. The office also works closely with Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs) and numerous development partners within the subregion, ensuring effective collaboration and coordination.

The Video Producer reports to the FAO designated contact (Project coordinator) and the FAO SFS CAPRM Technical Lead.

Tasks and responsibilities
In close collaboration with Office of Communications (OCC) branches and appropriate SFS Communication focal point, the incumbent will\:
1.Video Conceptualization and Planning\:
•Work closely with project teams to understand objectives and provide creative solutions using existing resources.
•Collaborate with project teams to develop creative briefs and storyboards, incorporating existing footage where applicable.
•Ensure timely updates on the production process and alignment with project expectations.
•Assess the provided footage for suitability and identify any additional filming needs.
2.Professional Video Production\:
•Conduct supplementary filming to enhance or complement existing footage, ensuring consistency in quality and style.
•Utilize professional-grade equipment for filming, sound recording, and lighting as needed.
3.Integration of Existing Footage\:
•Review and evaluate existing footage for quality and relevance.
•Edit and seamlessly integrate provided materials with new footage to produce a cohesive and engaging narrative.
•Apply color grading and other enhancements to match old and new footage.
4.Post-Production\:
•Edit raw and existing footage into polished videos, ensuring smooth transitions and storytelling.
•Incorporate graphics, animations, subtitles, voiceovers, and branding elements.
•Balance and enhance audio for all components, including existing clips.
5.Customization for Various Formats\:
•Produce videos tailored to specific project needs, such as\:
•Documentaries
•Event highlights
•Success stories
•Training and educational videos
•Promotional and advocacy videos
•Deliver outputs optimized for multiple platforms, including websites, presentations, and high-definition screens.
6.Creative Storytelling\:
•Leverage existing footage and new material to craft compelling narratives.
•Highlight project outcomes, impacts, and other thematic focuses in line with communication strategies.
7.Asset Management\:
•Organize and manage provided footage, edited projects, and related materials systematically.
•Ensure all content is archived for future use and easy retrieval.
8.Quality Assurance\:
•Review and refine final deliverables to meet high technical and creative standards.
•Ensure all outputs align with organizational branding and messaging guidelines.
9.Training and Knowledge Sharing\:
•Provide guidance on organizing and optimizing existing footage for future projects.
•Conduct basic training for staff on managing and utilizing video assets effectively.
10.Other Duties\:
•Adapt deliverables based on stakeholder feedback, ensuring satisfaction with the final product.
•Address any gaps in production or footage integration creatively and efficiently.

•Liaison with OCC will be maintained, through the direct supervisor, to ensure compliance with OCC standards, aligned messaging, and appropriate review and clearance processes, distribution and publication of the video products. For videos intended for use on social media channels, liaise with the Regional Communication Officer (RCO) and OCC to review scripts, formats and final clearances.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
•University Degree in Communication, Multimedia Production, Film Studies, or a related field.
•At least five years of professional experience in video production, editing, and multimedia content creation, including integrating and enhancing existing footage.
•English Proficiency (Level C),
•National of Zimbabwe or resident in the country with a valid work permit.

•Proven expertise in video editing software, such as Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar tools, and experience with motion graphics and animations using tools like Adobe After Effects.
•Experience in professional filming, including use of high-quality cameras, lighting, and sound recording equipment.
•Strong knowledge of FAO or UN guidelines, or ability to quickly adapt to and comply with organizational branding, messaging, and publication standards.
•Demonstrated ability to produce content for diverse formats, including documentaries, training materials, and social media.
•Strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage video assets systematically for archiving and future use.

Selection Criteria

• Understanding of the local language is an advantage.
