Role Summary

The MHPSS Project Manager develops, leads, monitors, and evaluates the assigned MHPSS project(s). This involves effectively managing and reporting on the projects in line with the objectives, timeframe, and budget.  This includes managing and training local staff to meet international quality standards in mental health care delivery, encouraging beneficiary participation, liaising with other stakeholders, and leading growth of MHPSS activities.

Project Overview

Medair Sudan is a complex and dynamic country programme due to instability related to conflict, poverty and natural disasters. Medair returned to Sudan in 2020 and is currently implementing projects in vulnerable communities in health and nutrition sectors, with components of WASH and MPHSS.  Medair Sudan seeks to expand the current programme into new areas, as well as growing and strengthening local partnerships.

Sudan, various locations. This is a project-based position and living conditions may be very different to that previously experienced.

Responsibilities:

• Manage the assigned MHPSS projects to meet the project objectives and implement activities within budget and allotted time frame, ensuring short and long-term positive outcomes for beneficiaries, local authorities and local staff.

• Set clear objectives and indicators for MHPSS activities, evaluating progress through outputs and impacts using both quantitative and qualitative data and taking appropriate action as necessary.

• Contribute to development and implementation of an appropriate and effective MHPSS and protection mainstreaming strategy in consultation with leadership team.

• Facilitate MHPSS and protection mainstreaming training sessions and workshops for staff and partners, with participatory and interactive methods. Provide ongoing support/mentorship to ensure effective application.

• Support teams to integrate protection mainstreaming principles into MHPSS, health, and WASH activities, ensuring that all interventions are safe, dignified, inclusive, do not cause harm and they are accessible to vulnerable persons.

Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies:

• Psychiatric Nurse/Social Worker with a Degree in any of the studies: Psychology, Sociology, Social works, Social Sciences, Public health

• 2 years’ post-qualification professional experience working in Mental Health; at least 1 year management experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in humanitarian sector

• Proficient in English (spoken and written); Arabic desired
