About this position
We are looking for a dynamic and strategic External Relations Senior Specialist to support the External Affairs Unit (EXA) of the External Affairs and Communications Department (EXC) and the Global Partnerships Office (GPS) in advocacy and communication with relevant stakeholders in Europe.
You will support EXC and GPS in promoting the IDB Group's initiatives and achievements, helping to strengthen the IDB Group's visibility, influence and engagement within the international development community in Europe. This position involves dual reporting to both EXC and GPS, driving the synergy between external strategies and partnership solutions aligned with the IDB Strategy+.
What you’ll do
• Develop communication and outreach material for key stakeholders in Europe, including civil society, government officials, international organizations, and private sector to promote and disseminate information about the IDB Group’s work in Latin America and the Caribbean.
• Craft and disseminate messages that effectively communicate the IDB Group's goals, initiatives, and successes.
• Support the organization of meetings conferences, and events, ensuring logistical support and coordination.
• Provide technical support to the EXC and GPS managers on external relations and communication strategies.
• Assist in preparing reports and briefings on external relations activities, meetings, and related outcomes.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of communication strategies with the IDB's mission and objectives.
• Monitor and report on external developments that may impact the IDB's external relations strategy.
• Represent EXC and GPS at external events or forums, as needed, providing support in these activities.
What you'll need
• Education: Master’s degree in International Relations, Public Policy, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.
• Experience: At least 5 years of progressive experience in external relations, public affairs, or a related field, preferably with an international organization.
• Languages:
- Proficiency in English and Spanish, spoken and written, is required.
- Additional knowledge of French and Portuguese is preferable.
Requirements
• Citizenship:
- You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.
• Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
International staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
