Accounting Officer


Overview

The incumbent will be an integral part of ICRAF’s team in Côte d’Ivoire. Under the supervision of the Country Senior Finance Officer, he/she will be responsible for overseeing daily financial transactions, supporting donor and partner management through the implementation of contractual requirements and reporting, and contributing to asset management.

Duties and responsibilities

1.General Accounting/ Budgeting

  • Coordinate accounts daily operations
  • Prepare Donors/partners invoices for funds request.
  • Process partners advance liquidation and updating the same in the financial system
  • Review journal entries of Account Assistant to ensure accuracy and post in system.
  • Elaborate the Masterfile of salaries and proceed to payment, as well as for taxes and statutory deductions.
  • Conduct accounts reconciliation for staff, suppliers, partners and accruals monthly
  • Manage general ledger and assist month-end and year-end close processes.
  • Assist with budget preparation and the monthly budget variance analysis.

2.Assets Management

  • Liaise with Supply Chain Team for assets coding, update and maintain register in the general ledger.
  • Assist with the annual fixed assets verification and reconciliations 

3.Contribute to internal Control, Reporting, Partnership and Team Management

  • Assist the Country Finance Lead in preparing reports and interpreting financial information for Managers.
  • Actively contributes to the preparation of financial statements and regulatory reporting documents
  • Work with partners team to ensure compliance with specific requirements.
  • Provide training to team on accounting policies and tools.


Requirements

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Economics, Finance or equivalent discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years' working experience in a similar role preferably within an international organization
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ ERP.



Education, knowledge and experience

•Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Economics, Finance or equivalent discipline.
•Minimum 3 years' working experience in a similar role preferably within an international organization
•Sound knowledge of accounting principles and practices
•Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software/ ERP.

Terms and conditions

•This is a Locally Recruited Staff (LRS) position. CIFOR?ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency, commensurate with skills and experience.
•The appointment will be for 12 months, inclusive of a three?month probation period, with the possibility of extension contingent upon performance, continued relevance of the position and available resources.
•The duty station will be in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire.
