Specifically, FAO Country Offices\:
(i) advocate, inform and support policies and investments in the areas of FAO’s mandate;
(ii) provide technical assistance and deliver core services;
(iii) assist and catalyse partnership and resource mobilization activities to support agrifood systems transformation;
(iv) position FAO as the specialized/authoritative technical agency in food and agriculture and agrifood systems transformation; and
(v) ensure risk-smart and accountable operations and management.
The position is located in the FAO Country Office in Jordan
Reporting Lines
Under the overall supervision of FAO representative, and direct supervision from CTA , the Agricultural and Gender Specialist-will implement the required tasks, in close collaboration with the Agronomist and Climate Adaptation Specialist and will coordinate with the eight selected CWWA, the contracted service provider for selecting and training the 200 CWW and with the Ministry of Agriculture extension staff for FFS implementation.
Technical Focus
Agriculture, agriculture extension, social and gender inclusion in agricultural, technology transfer, climate change adaptation, rural development, and water management.
Tasks and responsibilities
The incumbent will be mainly involved in implementing tasks under Output 2.1.3 “Establishing a cadre of 400 climate wise women change agents for climate adaptation” and Output 2.1.1\: By year seven, 6,000 women and men farmers will be trained in climate resilient production practices through Farmer Field Schools (4,050) and field days (6,000). The position will be based in the Ministry of Environment of Jordan and will support the project PMU- with field missions. The consultancy will involve the following tasks\:
Task 1\: Supervise CCA and gender related activities under BRCCJ project including CWW and FFS
Coordinate with BRCCJ team, the contracted Service provider, the 8 CWWAs and MoA to develop a detailed work implementation plan for field missions regarding agricultural-related activities, including FFS and CWW under BRCCJ project
Conduct field missions based on the developed plan to follow up and provide guidance at the field level regarding the implementation of agriculture and gender-related activities under component two of BRCCJ project.
Task 2\: Support the selection of 200 Climate Wise Women in collaboration with the committee members based on the agreed selection criteria
In collaboration with FAO-BRCCJ team and the contracted service provider, support with the formulation process of the selection committee, which will compose of BRCCJ representatives, CWWAs, MoEnv, MoA and the contracted service provider (through the BRCCJ), the selection criteria will be reviewed and confirmed by the committee.
Support the selection process of the CWW at the targeted governorates in collaboration with the selection committee, and the contracted service provider (through the BRCCJ).
Task 3\: Support holding the trainings for the 200 CWW
Provide guidance and follow up on the trainings for the CWW which will be provided by the CWWA in the targeted governorates of Madaba, Karak, Tafileh and Ma’an.
Update the PMU regarding the training progress and any challenges that might occurred at the field level whenever required.
Task 4\: Support implementing the FFS activities
Provide guidance and follow up regrading the FFS implementation at the field level in collaboration with the Agronomist and Climate Adaptation Specialist and MoA staff.

Task 5\: Report on progress on a monthly basis\:
Produce a monthly progress report to the PMU team and CTA.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, agronomy or related field.
• At least one year of proven working experience at the field level, following up and provide guidance regarding agriculture, gender, climate change and water use efficiency related activities.
• Working knowledge (level C) in English and in Arabic.
• National of Jordan or holding residency permit
