UNDP first became active in Uzbekistan in 1993 and has over subsequent decades implemented hundreds of projects alongside the national government, business, civil society and academic. The directions of UNDP’s work in Uzbekistan reflect the current UN Country Programme Document (CPD) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) for 2021-2025. They also align with the national Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within the 2030 Agenda, and Uzbekistan’s Development Strategy for 2022-2026. Throughout 2020 UNDP helped address the national health and socio-economic impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, and is continuing to actively assist in Uzbekistan’s inclusive, green recovery.
UNDP has been active in more than 170 countries and territories around the world, helping eradicate poverty and reduce inequalities and increase inclusion. In Uzbekistan, UNDP has its main office in the capital of Tashkent city, and secondary offices in the cities of Nukus and Namangan. Three current directions of work include ‘Inclusive and Democratic Governance’, ‘Inclusive and Sustainable Growth’, and ‘Climate and Disaster Resilience’.
The UNDP Operations Unit provides operational support services to the UNDP Projects and other UN Agencies in HR, Finance, Procurement and General Administration. This internship assignment will support the Operations Unit.
Position purpose
The intern will assist the Operations (Finance) and Communication Units by providing support to one of the units of the operation’s high quality of work, accurate, timely and properly recorded/documented service delivery and in the development and promotion of high-quality content across various platforms respectively. The intern promotes a client-oriented and consistent with rules and regulations approach in the Unit. The Intern works in close collaboration with the Operations teams and projects’ staff in the CO staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery.
- Assist in maintaining proper filing of the Unit papers and sort, classify and file documentation according to guidelines such as content, purpose, user criteria, or chronological, alphabetical, or numerical order;
- Assist with archiving: prepare materials for archiving, register the archived files, update the register of archived file;
- Maintain the document flow within the Unit (generation, tracking, editing, storage and management of documents);
- Perform ad hoc inspections of materials or files in order to ensure correct placement, legibility, and proper condition;
- Provide quick and quality written translation (English, Uzbek)
- Assist in the preparation of presentations, reports, and briefing materials
- Coordinate with team members to ensure that presentations align with organizational objectives and messaging.
- Undertake additional tasks as requested by the Operations (Finance) and Communication Units, contributing to the overall goals and objectives of the respective units.
- Performs other duties as required.

The Intern works in close collaboration with the Operations teams and projects’ staff in the CO staff to exchange information and ensure consistent service delivery.

Education:
Applicants to the internship must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
(a) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) in finance, economy, social media, communications, journalism, public relations or other related fields;
(b) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(c) Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation
- Demonstrated interest and/or experience in operations procedures (finance), communications.
Languages:
Fluency in English, proficiency in Uzbek. Good command of Russian is desirable.
