The UNDP Costa Rica Office, in its intrinsic commitment to equality and non-discrimination, aims to strengthen a pluralistic, inclusive, diverse organizational culture that respects differences and leaves no one behind.
Therefore, it invites indigenous people, Afro-descendants, people with disabilities, migrants, LGBTQI+ individuals, and other historically excluded individuals, groups, and populations to participate in the recruitment processes.
Women in this diverse group are especially encouraged to apply.
UNDP rejects violence against women, sexual harassment, and sexual exploitation in any of its forms, as well as harassment, discrimination, and abuse of authority. Therefore, collaborators must demonstrate an impeccable record in this regard and conduct based on integrity and respect and non-discrimination.
Objective of the placement
Under the direct guidance of the Knowledge Manager of the United Nations Development Programme in Costa Rica (UNDP), the "Landscapes Without Plastics" (Paisajes Sin Plásticos) project has been launched. This initiative aims to establish river barriers to capture plastic pollution flowing towards rivers that ultimately reach the ocean. The collected plastic waste will then be transported to Pedregal, a concrete processing plant that can incorporate various types of non-valuable plastics into concrete. Beyond fundraising for these river barriers, the project seeks to engage recycling plants and collection centres in this effort by providing funding for the transportation of compacted plastics to Pedregal or by supplying compacting equipment to recycling entities to process the collected waste.
