Role Summary
Working as a senior member of a diverse team who are committed to serve the most vulnerable with practical and compassionate care, the Project Coordinator leads the implementation of humanitarian projects, ensuring strategic direction, management, and evaluation. Key responsibilities include team leadership, security management, and liaison with authorities, local partners and other relevant stakeholders to achieve project objectives effectively.
Project Overview
The purpose of Medair’s programme in Sudan is to save lives and alleviate human suffering amongst displaced people and vulnerable host communities. Medair’s programme provides support to people affected by conflict, disease and disaster by providing basic services including health, nutrition, WASH, shelter, cash and more.
Workplace & Conditions
This role is based in Khartoum, with regular visits to project locations.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee project implementation, ensuring objectives, timelines, and budgets are met; guiding teams in day-to-day decision-making, and monitoring, evaluation, and reporting.
• Manage support functions, including Logistics, Finance, HR, MEAL and Liaison, in compliance with Medair values, policies and procedures.
• Manage the security of Medair’s operations in Khartoum, including monitoring the local and national political context, identifying security risks and mitigations, enforcing security protocols within the team, and responding to incidents.
• Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships, representing Medair in meetings and networks; facilitate partnerships and respond to evolving project needs effectively.
• Identify and pursue new projects and funding opportunities to expand programming in the targeted geographical areas and sectors.
Qualifications, Experience & Technical Competencies:
• University degree in a relevant subject such as Management, Development Studies, or Business Administration
• Proficient in English (spoken and written); Arabic language desirable
• Knowledge of Humanitarian Essentials, Sphere and HAP Standards and other humanitarian guidelines and protocols.
• At least 3 years of experience in a management position in a complex humanitarian context.
• Experience with security management, proposal writing and reporting.
